Centerfire has them for $300. I know there are other MAC producers for more. How does this Cobray hold up? Worth putting a brace on it or making a SBR?

Link to $300 m11

I think they are cool. Just bought a swd M11. It has a extra switch position tho.

To my mind they are useless without the third selector setting.

it required a bit of tuning to get it to run reliably

I paid 400$ for a real FA one in 1993.
Plus a 200$ stamp.

Snail mail stamp took 5 weeks.

I could not afford a MP5SD like I really wanted.

There is no practical use, quality, etc. about these.

I hope you still have it. They are 7,500-8,500 now.

Had one of those for a while...got it cheap...no amount of tuning would get it to run consistently...

sold it for what I had into it, the next poor smuck knew he could get it working just fine....

I think they are a roll of the dice , most don't work well , a some do....

Get  one.   Fun to have, like the old Tec-9.    The rubber tube on the trigger is to reduce the trigger slap

If you get one invest in a taller cocking knob. The rear sight is designed to cut knuckles. I had only for a couple months years ago, it was a fun toy, but that is all.

Had one, the trigger slap was horrible. So painful, it was not at all fun to shoot.

The issue with the semi auto ones is they try to cheat the physics of a good blowback firearm.

The bolt is underweight for a closed bolt blowback, so the recoil spring is heavy and preloaded.

This makes for a snappy, violent, unreliable action.

The full auto open bolt ones can get away with it a bit easier due to the advance primer ignition, using the bolts forward inertia to subsitute for lack of mass.

All of this is of course aside from the trigger slap due to lack of separate disconnector, and other issues such as mag issues.

Don't waste your money. It's a POS. Had one when I was young and dumb. Its the gun that taught me that trigger slap can actually be painful.

Its also the only gun I was really really happy to get ride of. Traded it to a dealer for 1 pre-ban Glock mag. This was back during the AW ban era.

When they are set up right they are fun as heck.
After using the brace I don't notice the trigger slap so not sure if it has something to do with the firearm being better secured ?
Also with the red dot it is a whole different animal, actually hit everything I aim at

Is that a Cobray? Looks fun

they're crap.  Bump firing makes the c clip on one of the pins fall off, the bbl chamber is soft and enlarges.  The front feed lip of zytel mags were out and all the rounds nose dive making the magazine worthless

I had one, and on the rare occasion it did run a full mag, most would double, or more.

Use Shockwave M11/9 mags and you will never use the Zytel mags again.

I have the same set-up. Where did you get the optics mount?

Oh yeah,

I have an early MasterpieceArms semi m-11 style pistol. Mine uses STEN mags. I bought itfrom a guy who "couldn't get it to run right" for $100. I replaced the sear plate and it runs flawlessly on 124gr. NATO ammo (Winchester Q-load). I too attached the Blade "stabilizer". However, bracing it properly will leave the iron sights sitting too low, so I like the Red-Dot, Urban-Ops has on his. I want that mount With the pistol brace it is a fun little range toy. Without the brace, it is an unpleasant, awkward, handful that does nothing a G17 with G18 mags doesn't do much better.

ETA- I also have an SWD m-11/9 machinegun. The Lage upper turned that turd into my favorite machinegun to shoot. I also replaced all the cast internals parts with CNC replacements from FTF Industries.

I bought one new in 94', it ran perfectly. Absolutely zero fun to shoot, the sights and trigger were terrible. Put about 500 rounds through it and never touched it again, finally sold it
Definitely qualifies as a novelty item.

I had two - many years ago, fell for the look of it  ( came w/ several plastic mags, fake suppressor, carry bag).  Quickly sold them after two trips to shooting range. Glock17 is/was far more enjoyable.

So, no, Cobray M11 9mm is NO good.

How was your experience dealing with ftf?

I had a Cobray M11 9mm pistol a long time ago around the mid 1980s and when I first was testing it, what a jam-o-matic, I had about 4 mags and it was jamming on all of them.

Sent it back to the manufacturer and they fixed the problem, when I got it back it was very reliable, the synthetic mags was bowing out a little but it didn't affect the reliability at all.

Then years later in about '89 I sold it and bought a HK 94 9mm carbine with the retractable stock.

I have one of the old S.W.D. Cobray M11/9s that I got used back in the mid 80s. I'm probably the third (at least) owner, so I have no idea what may have been done to it mechanically. All I've ever done is clean it occasionally after shooting. No issues with trigger slap, and it's never jammed once since I've owned it. It's surprisingly accurate for what it is and the rudimentary sights. And it's unwieldy as hell. It's strongest point seems to be how easily it can dispose of mass quantities of 9mm ammo. My teenage boys fucking love it.

Glad I found this thread, The stock/brace and optic mounts might be just the thing for us.

I have one and thoroughly enjoy it. For the price they're a lot of fun.
