The eforms website says it is maintenance and they hope to have service restored as soon as possible. This happens from time to time.
|
|
|
[#2]
Of course they would shut it down. Im waiting on an F3 from Silencer Shop to my dealer.

anonymous tip as a source?
Sounds like ammo land had a slow news day. |

This is not a surprise to anyone who has to do suppressor stuff everyday. This is just another Thursday to me. |

So I guess the eForms being down only applies to submissions?
I got approval email from eForms / ATF today for a F4. Just a few days over a month. |

You think you're winning this game? You don't even know the God-damned rules. But don't worry, I'm gonna teach 'em to ya..

Well that sucks. I just had one arrive at my FFL via form 3 from silencer shop. How convenient. So how fucked am I right now?

Your FFL could paper F4 it to you. Not sure how long that is taking currently. |

I guess I'm lucky I sent in 5 paper form 4s a month ago
|

|
[#11]
I hope that's wrong. I was going to submit some forms soon.

[#12]
Wait, they got a fuck ton of money from Biden. If they shut it down it is political. Literally nothing else to it.

Mine was supposed to submit today. Had to delay it because of outage

Or it's exactly what they say it is and they are doing system maintenance.

NICS went down for like an hour on Thursday.
FBI had issues. Wonder if it was related to the E-Forms being down. |
|
|
[#17]
I don’t know how these things work exactly, but did maybe yesterday being a once every 4 years date (Feb 29) affect it?
I mean the site itself looks like it was designed during the My Space era. |
|
|
[#18]
maybe? not?
i logged into my nics check account at 11:30 to change my password because it was about to expire. logged in fine. clicked change password and it took me to a page i have never scene before. i saw a box that said sworn law enforcement. i went to update my phone number and hit save and it took me to an error page. tried to log back in and it kept going to an error page then around noon it was up but said my account was locked. i called the number around 12:40 and the dude said fbi is down. try calling back in an hour. left to get my son from school and called back at 2:30. was able to unlock my account and they had to reset my password but everything there worked fine. i will have to ask my dealer if his eform is down because i am expecting a suppressor soon. |

we pay extra money in the form of an illegal tax to exercise our rights and stay out of prison, plus a very long wait. how about we shut down the ebt/snap/welfare system which is not a right and mostly used by people that commit crimes and dont pay taxes

But so far what I’m hearing isn’t great. View Quote The rumor mill is going overtime on the eForms outage. My money is on something like a massive database corruption and discovery that nobody has been backing anything up or something. I do not believe it is going down permanently. They posted that eF2, which are manufacturer reports of new NFA firearms manufactured, will be accepted for 24 hours after eForms returns and still will be timely. They wouldn’t create such an allowance if eForms wasn’t coming back. |

I wonder if a lot of people are receiving approvals which are lost to ATF. Sometime down the road, from days to years, there’ll be FFL audits where ATF will claim something should be in inventory while the FFL says transfer was approved long ago. That and owners trying to transfer and ATF halting with the infamous “Proof of Ownership” reply. This seems to happen every couple of decades. Theres still fouled-up amnesty paperwork from 1968. There was that one examiner who was caught shredding registrations to avoid work in the 80s or early 90s. Then there was the excellent 30-day approval period circa 2005-2006 where they seemed to lose stuff. Now we’ve got what looks like a catastrophic tech issue in 2024. |

Yes, still seeing approvals in the tracking thread. Guessing that the examiners still have access? That would be a good thing if the backlog is still being worked. Originally Posted By MRTEX: Well that sucks. I just had one arrive at my FFL via form 3 from silencer shop. How convenient. So how fucked am I right now? Same here, but I would think that we should still be able to get the forms ready for submission. ETA: Hey, this multi quote feature is pretty neat. |

Yeah. Heard they were coming up about 1600 EST.
Still kind of odd (if the anonymous sources can be believed) that someone called an unplanned outage. |

Nope, not at all, nothing to see here… I’ve had it happen a few times, both as a SOT and as an individual buyer. In each case I sent a copy or helped the Seller / the Seller’s estate send a copy of the original paperwork into ATF via email. They always gave a cursory reply acknowledgement and thank you. Then the transfer proceeded. As a SOT, my first one was a F3 from the manufacturer to me that was maybe a month or two old. The second and third were all old registrations, one from the 1940s and the other a 4467, where the ATF didn’t have record of anything. |

@prebans
Thank you for explaining. I wonder how they could even authenticate something like that, since you sent a copy and not the original, right? (I wouldn't send the original since they've already proven they lose stuff. lol) |
