I have a Marlin Model 60 from the 1980s that id like to put a scope on.

It seems like all scopes under $200 are made in China. I’d hate to spend $300 on a Leupold but I will if it’s the best option.

Are there any lightweight small profile 3-9 scopes that aren’t made by Communists?

How do you feel about the Phillipines?

I know you said 3-9 but a leupold M8 4x is one of my favorite .22 scopes. Keep that baby light and you will enjoy it more.

The 60 is a very accurate rifle.  Buy the Leupold.

Burris still makes some in the US, but many are from the PI.  Good glass.

if you want older, hit fleabay for a Lyman All American, a good one can be found (with patience) for less than $150.  The four power with a 'Perma Center" reticle is a great .22 scope.

I put a Leupold 2-7x33 on my Marlin XT-22MTR and its since been my go to for dispatching critters around the farm. I too try my best to buy American made products whenever possible

I was looking for a good 22 scope myself. I’m wanting a little more than the 2-7. I like the 3-9x40 Leupold vx1 I bought years ago that I have on my Ruger American. Luck of luck I stumbled upon a new in box Redfield Revolution 3-9x40 today. New old stock at a local gun store for $200. Says made in USA and has clear glass that looks as good as my VX1. I’m still looking for another good rimfire scope and have looked at the Burris and the Weaver scopes that they make just for Natchez Shooter Supply. Like you I would prefer to by US made optics but it’s not always affordable.

I got the same optic.  Granted the glass on the lower end models does come from China.  At least everything else is domestic.

Only lower costing USA scope I know of is the Redfield Revolution that is made by Leupold, which is also another choice.

Doctor scopes are made in USA, but pricey.

A couple of the Burris scopes are made in USA, but also pricey.

I do like Burris Fullfield II scopes and I have a couple of 3-9x40 on a couple rifles, one being a Burris Fullfield II "Rimfire" scope (parallaxed @ 50yds) on a 10/22. It came in the combo package kits that Burris used to sell many years back. I believe both are made in Philippines. Glass even seemed to gather light better than my Nikon Buckmaster at dusk.

Another vote for Leupold. They aren't the cheapest option but I think they are the best option for rimfires.

I'd get the 3-9x EFR if this is more of a target gun or the 2-7x if it's more of a hunting gun. Here is the 2-7 I had on a CZ452 Scout. It was a great, lightweight hunting package...

If you want US made you are pretty much going to have to go with Leupold, 2nd option is to buy used from Ebay, etc. I've bought many scopes this way and have not been disapointed. You can find plenty of US made Weaver, Redfield and Burris scopes on Ebay.  You can usually find Leupold scopes fairly reasonably on there (except oddly, the rimfire specific variants..they go higher).

Thanks guys. I went with the Leupold VX-2 3-9x. Made in the USA, only $300. Works perfectly.

Way too big. I assume you are joking? I have one on my PRS rig and it's heavier than my entire 22 rifle.

If you don’t mind used look for an older Bushnell 22 custom 3x-7x.  They were made in Japan and have nice clear glass.

I have a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 3-9x40 SFP on one AR-15 in 5.56.   Vortex has discontinued this Philipines manufactured scope and you can’t beat the quality of this scope for the price.  If I needed another scope I’d but it.

Weaver I believe is all Chinese now, and most of the popular brands these days are almost all Chinese Philippine and a very few Japan.

Except for Leupold, anything else domestic made will be very expensive

I have an arken 5x25 on my bergara 22 trainer. No problems hitting out to 800 yards with it. The turrets track well and are repeatable.

Are any of the above offered in silver for my stainless 60 or stainless 10-22's?

Great choice, both the VX-2 3-9x and the 2-7x version.

Did you get the centerfire version or the rimfire version?  Only difference is the rimfire version has the fixed parallax set at 50 yards, centerfire at 150.  Rimfires need that shorter parallax setting or you can have unexplained shooting error inside 50 yards unless your eye is exactly centered on every shot.

If you have the regular centerfire version, it is easily adjusted.  Remove the outer front-most ring on the objective (big) end.  Inside is a slotted ring that screws in and out.  The lens is sealed.  You are not altering the seal.  This adjusts parallax.  Unscrew and remove the outer ring. This may be difficult.  You may need to grip it with a jar opener.  Find an object at 50 yards.  While looking through the scope move your eye toward the outer edges of the field of view.  The image will move slightly.  That is parallax error.

Now adjust that ring while doing the same with your eye until the image does not move.  Now, you have a rimfire scope!

Here's what the inner slotted ring looks like:

That is a nice place to be on a rimfire.   As a teen I wondered why people like a 2-7 when they could buy a 3-9x.

Now I am older and need a bit more help with my vision I look at some of my iron sighted classics and consider putting a smaller scope on them as some days my eyes don’t like iron sights.
