I’d atleast buy enough magazines that when you find one later you’ll have plenty.

You'll like it. I thought about getting an M1A for awhile - finally got a SOCOM model via PSA for a great deal, and really like it.
The M1A series can get too long and heavy, but the 16/18" barrel models are easier to handle and use. I put a red dot on the Scout style scope mount on the handguard, and it's a great shooter. |

Just change out the extractor and firing pin with USGI parts and your good to go.
