Adding mine to the thread that provided some inspiration. Long post below, pics at the end. Backstory on the gun….the goal was to slap it together without spending a dime on it. Like most of us the build started with some random leftover parts and take offs. Everything else was pieced together from trades or from selling stuff I no longer needed. Brief rundown on what I “spent” money on. The lower itself is a PSA “stealth” I got for $30, sold some holsters to fund that and the FFL fee and shipping. The upper is also PSA, the cheapest one I could find on sale for Memorial Day, $160 iirc. The handguard is an NC Star|Vism two piece that still uses the delta ring, $60 or so. We cleaned out our shed a while back and I sold a Yeti cooler we never used for $250 to fund those. The BCG I got in trade for some .22LR ammo. I was consolidating all of my .22LR to CCI and Federal, and was getting rid of all of the random boxes and brands. Dude on a local board was building a dedicated .22LR upper and didn’t need the BCG but needed ammo. Win win. The optic is PA I think, it’s a take off from another gun that’s getting an upgrade. The lower parts are all leftovers or takeoffs. Any other random stuff was funded by EE sales or sales on a local board. Paint and mag I had laying around the house. I may have $50 at the most invested in something random I’m not recalling. I was going to christen it my Oscar the Grouch build since it was funded by stuff that may have ended up in the garbage. I have no connection to Sesame Street though. But…we do have a few raccoons in the neighborhood that torment my dog, so it’s now known as my trash panda build. I even have a cool little trash panda sticker to drop on the magwell where a roll mark would be. Enough of the TLDR, pictures: In sequence: Before paint Attached File First coat. The RhAF and some BSAP subunits used rack numbers, but most RSF units did not. The majority of rack numbers were put on post-1980. Still, I love the paint job, and that number looks fine.
