Not to sure. But my guess it is around 4lbs.

I don't remember who had the total weight breakdown for the clone. It was either MAC or other bullpup YT guys that did the in depth dive.

I saw on their website they also are coming out with a replacement grip that looks very much like the OG sa80 grip.

From my emails with him, it seems yes. I think that he might be making some slight tweaks to the design based on user feedback, but I'm not sure. Here's the feedback that I provided to him:

From my use of the rifle, I love it. Very few issues with with rifle itself. My main complaints are:

The shape/weight of the trigger. It's very heavy and the shape is uncomfortable. He sent me lighter springs and that's an improvement, hopefully the bow gets a comfort enhancement as well. Firing several hundred rounds was actually painful.

The gas adjustment knob is very hard to adjust. I would like to see an extended design, or a tool for this purpose.

Anti-rotation QD sling socket, that would be great to have up front, and an easily updated part.

And finally, not so much a complaint, but a note: heat from firing large volume resulted in diminished accuracy with my optic mounted to the handguard. A&K makes extended rail risers that are out of stock, but hopefully they make another run soon. I see it as a necessity, especially when using magnified optics.

Jeebus, if you ever want to get rid of one…

I just placed my order for the newest batch as well as their flash hider that accepts the bayonets.  I didn’t realize how hard the bayonets were hard to find.

So far, GB is your best bet for one L85 bayonet. I think within the past 7 years, the bayonet market went insane. I remember the bayonets by itself was asking for 150-175. Now it is 300+.

Anyone trimmed down their barrel to shorter than 16" for a very compact version, aka CQB/PDW version of the L85?

Brownells did a fire sale on the Gen2.5 13.9" p/w uppers last year during black friday, might see if you can find one if you want a shorter factory option
I've also seen someone with the 10" .300blk cut to ~7", supposedly ADCO did the work

That embarrassing moment where someone jogs your memory and you realize you might have a 13.9" BRN-180 upper in the pile of uppers you use for product development...

Will a 13.9 clear the front handguard well?  If so, by how much?  On the first page of this thread they show one of their prototypes with a short barrel and is sweet!

Hmmm, I have a 10.5" Brn-180 Gen2 upper.
This is one of the first Bullpups I like.
Short barrel with suppressor like on the fist page looks badass.

Agreed on that shorty version.  I would like to know that bbl length for that project as well.  That much closer to the blast I would want it to be suppressed otherwise - that 5.56 blast is going to be "impressive"

10.5” with extended trigger guard gets you a very compact l22ish setup, we’re working on a more L22 looking front end as well.

10.5”, 13.9” and 18.5”

That 10.5 looks sweet.  May have to do another at some point with a .300 blk.

My lower has shipped.  Should be at FFL Monday.  Anyone else get theirs yet?

Does anyone have any clue when the .5” risers will be available for these from AKB?  Or is there another riser you guys are using?

Hopefully Brownells won’t f-over A&K with whatever production issues (or lack of interest) are going on with the BRN-180.

I’ve had stock notifications setup for a while and haven’t seen any motion.  I jumped in pretty hard on the BRN-4/HK416 and it seems like they’ve gone dry on that too lately.

I hope you’re right, but I am afraid it might happen as Brownells seems to be pushing the Gen 3 pretty hard.  I saw somewhere AKB was looking at a lower compatible with the foxtrot mike uppers but I can’t find anything on their website.

Here is my latest build using the A&K AKB-23 dedicated bullpup lower designed to pair with the BRN-180.  I made some modification and here are the results.  I also have been in contact with the manufacturers about my modifications and they are looking to make the modifications as a standard part of their offerings allowing the use of the BCA bolt action and the Uintah bolt action. I love this lower and it is a better option than what I have done using the Reap or the Triad from my other builds.  The picture showing the weight, the barrel is a heavy or bull profile, and it has a heavier hand guard.   This would bring the weight below 6 pounds easily.

Do you guys wonder if the Brits ever think about the fact that clones like this are actually better rifles than the SA80?

I have asked previously, now that i have one, the weight of the lower is around 2 lbs.
