Good trade.

I’ve got a 1940’s Ithaca that shoots lights out.
Oh the stories they could tell.

I am a mega-fan of oem condition unmolested Colt 1911s of any age. Very nice acquisition.

Nice
I am too a fan of old classics.
From a shooting standpoint I like the A1 short trigger much better, but shot a bunch of 1911’s over the years.
Be careful- the old 1911’s were not heat treated and frame but more often slide cracking I have heard is common ( in the dozens I have shot or handled never did I see or crack one, but the issue is legitimate)

I recently traded for this old war horse. I love old military surplus items and this one really caught my eye. I took her to the range and it shoots remarkably smooth. What do you think?

That's a early model doesn't have the scallop cut by the trigger.

It has a lot of character.

Old firearms are history in your hand.  I wish some of my old rifles and handguns could talk.

that's a 1911, not a 1911A1.

Very nice.

I love WWI era M1911. Lots of history of the war was not frequently discussed as the 2nd War.

This one (1917 Colt) will never win any collectors trophy, but it is still sexy for its age.

A finish worn but correct original will command far more money then a refinished one.

It's reasonably hard to find a WW1 1911 that hasn't been dicked with or refinished at some point. The one's that aren't very likely came home with someone after the war.

Agree, WWI era 1911s in unaltered form are harder to find and some of the walnut grips after 100 years really show their ages. There is no doubt that quite a few are still in collectors hands, but most only will be released for sale by Estate or auction. When you saw those much nicer one up for sale, it's too pricy for average Joe like me.
