Got to shoot a 1301 with a chisel stock yesterday and it was pretty nice. Idk if it is worth it to buy one aftermarket as I'm perfectly happy with the field stock. I did notice that the cheekpiece is only usable from one side. While it is reversible, if a gun is set up for a right handed shooter and they wanted to transition and shoot the gun left handed they'd be out of luck. Another reason I'm not a huge fan of rounds on the stock. Am I the crazy guy in thinking I want a gun thats able to be shot both right and left handed? |

This is why I like the Magpul stock with the cheek riser kit. Especially when using optics. I get a heads up sight picture and I can use it left or right handed. Attached File |

If you REALLY needed to shoot left-handed you probably still could. |

I have a question about the finish on this shotgun . . . Is it safe to assume the colored variants (gray, FDE, and OD green) are just Cerakote? And if so, can the same be said for the black version? In other words, I'm trying to understand the corrosion protection of the steel barrel and the hardness of the aluminum receiver. In a perfect world, the receiver would be hard anodized, and the barrel some sort of nitride or even phosphate. Any chance of either with the 1301? Thanks in advance |

Took mine out this weekend and enjoyed it very much. Great gun, ran out of the box with no issues and I ran both 2 ³/⁴ and 3" shells. (I'm a suburbanfag so I can't shoot buckshot indoors at any range near me) |

Apologies for a such a basic question. I've been eyeballing these for a couple of years and when I heard about the import restrictions, I finally bit bullet and bought the LE version. Just got it today. My question is magazine tube capacity. I can only fit 6 rounds in the tube. The 7th gets almost in but then binds at the final point and won't lock in. I tried to disassemble and see if something was binding with the follower or spring, and I don't see anything. Reassembled and still only 6 rounds. Yes, I'm using standard 2 3/4" shells and not 3". Did they change the model/capacity already and I'm only supposed to get 5 in the tube? ETA: model is J131M2TP18LE. Pistol grip, mod 2. |

Did a breacher class yesterday in the snow with my 1301. It did well with all the ammo I tried including the tap entry frangible but it would NOT cycle the hornady low recoil 00 buck. I didn't figure that it would work but it's what we are issued at work so a little disappointed  I let a coworker use it and he ND'd into the berm while breaching a door. It bump fired due to the weird angle he had to hold it at (he's short). I guess maybe pump actions are superior for breaching

I'm no holster sniffer but if someone burned down the town garage and threw canned corn at the snow plow guys I'd drop off a case of beer at the DPW. ~Aimless

It had had a couple of hundred mixed rds through it, a quick clean & lube and it's back to 100% (although I think that light a load may be right on the edge of reliability, time will tell). |

Gun won't cycle ; lock the action open for 2-3 days. Malfunctions keep them clean. Maney 00 buck shot and slug rounds are not in a wad cup, they have a wad big difference! READ Manual Firing slugs and buck shot through the A300 Patrol and 1301 platform can result in lead buildup in the gas operating system. We recommend cleaning the gas cylinder, piston, ring, and barrel after every 200 rounds to ensure reliable function when firing these types of ammunition. See “A300 Patrol Disassembly” page 26 or “1301 Tactical Disassembly” page 28 for more information. |

My 1301 cycles the Hornady TAP Reduced Recoil 1100FPS (Blue Hull) all day. I was giving it away at the Utah Thunderstick Summit to others shooting 1301's, who were curious what I was shooting, because the pattern was tighter than their Flite Control. Hornady TAP Reduced Recoil is also our duty buck. Jay |
