Placed my first order with the CMP for two field grade Garands. I have had the itch to buy one (now two) for some time.

From my readings on the CMP forums the wait seems to be less than a month.

Will update with pictures when they arrive.

Update: Delivery scheduled for Monday. Serial number 222516x and 50861x. I'm not very knowledgeable about Garands but I believe they are both WW2 Springfield's.

It was only 20 days for me for a single field grade, from mailing the order to receiving the rifle, and that's with Christmas in the middle (12/09 - 12/29).

It is something I should have done for some time. Better late than never though.

I know that opening the green cases is something I will remember forever. The suspense is killing me already.

If the rifles could tell stories...

I ordered two Service Grades the beginning of December and I'm still waiting. They're my first M1's so I'm dying over here waiting lol

My order in October was less than two weeks from dropping the order in the mail to having rifles at my door.

Order received at cmp 1-18. Credentials verified and notification that order received on 2-1, now listed as an open order in the estore. Should have them early next week.

Picked them up today. They fit the description of field grade. Mix masters, but most parts are SA.

The 6 digit (darker stock) seems to be a turk, it has a drop chart written in Turkish.

Get your toothbrushes and detailed strip instructions ready! The last two I have received from Turkey have been caked in fine desert talc like dust. Took me close to a week per rifle to strip and clean. Meticulous work but well worth the effort and kind of fun in way. Really teaches the wonderful design and history of the weapon.

Being my first garands I don't have much to go off, but these don't seem too filthy. A detail strip, clean, and lube is in order. I can't wait to fire them.

The Armorer will have done a "gross decon" of your rifles and check for head space, bolt flaws, and other safety areas. It will then be test fired. Your rifles be will be filthy in the buttstock under the plate, under the rear sight, in the dovetail of the front sight, and the areas of the receiver that collect grease and dirt. The clip release will be especially bad. Check your rifle for any receiver cracks. I received one with a heel crack in January 2018. CMP customer service is incredible and took care of me!

Just checked on the e-store, my 2 service grades are listed as processing now instead of open! I’m hoping they will ship them soon!

Update. Shipping info sent. Looks like I got February 1943 and September 1943 Springfield’s.
