First, I mean no offense in my posting. This is purely for educational purposes.
I only question the folding brace due to no clear cut regulation or stance from the ATF. I had the same concerns about all braces until Remington started selling the Tac 14 with a brace. My main concern is that the firearm is less than 26" OAL when folded, and that it is still able to fire while folded. I completely understand what you are saying, but the ATF draws a very fine, and confusing line in the sand that I don't want to cross. I'd rather add a mag tube spike or something to make up the 26" OAL while folded just to be safe. Again, thanks for everyones comments. I'm only here to learn, and this thread has taught me quite a lot! |

Yeah, the barrel has since been chopped to 12.4" and a rail installed for a red dot. Also sports Hogue furniture now. Problem with the Mesa Tactical adapter is that it creates a very high comb and you end up "looking over" the front sight. It's not much of an issue if you install a rail/red dot. The overmold finish on the Hogue gives it a big advantage. The rubber rail covers on my Magpul one will do for now. I'm working on an aluminum Mlok forend currently, but its still a month or two out. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I really think a laser would make this most effective. Whats the best option?

@sq40 in the Shockwave threads we have been using a CMR-206 greenlaser from Crimson trace mounted upside down on top of the receiver. With the Mossberg it's great because as you slide your thumb forward to take it off safe you just keep pushing forward to activate the laser. It doesn't stick out like a sore thumb on the pump or barrel making it less likely to take incidental abuse. At $120 there are certainly more expensive/durable options but this has held up to slugs and buck just fine. I was able to get mine dialed in quickly by eyeballing the beam down the barrel over the front bead and then turning it on it's side I eyeballed down the barrel again and adjusted the laser to where the dot lined up with my view down the barrel about 50 feet away. With the laser I can make 25 yard hipshots with slugs quite accurately and probably further but I haven't tried. With shot shells it seems impossible to miss and ridiculously fun. Lasers on rifles and pistols can still miss due to trigger pull or hitting above or below the dot because of the range to target vs range it was set at. Shot shells make that a non-issue. Two drawbacks though, direct sunlight will make the dot invisible, some shade is needed or cloudiness. The second is that the exposed switches make it easy to get turned on accidentally during transport. There is a minor third I suppose and that is that it is a fairly uncommon battery, order some off the internet ahead of time becuase they won't likely be found locally. Between "training" because we never play with guns, and accidentally getting turned on extra batteries on hand are a wise decision. Made specifically for Shotguns; www.amazon.com/dp/B0180OYGCA I went with the CT CRM-206 on mine. It's visible even in sunlight out to short-barreled-shotgun distances. Mine is mounted on the side of the gun- not optimal but I don't want it blocking my sight. I don't intend to keep it there but use it to train muscle memory. Get some time at the range point-shooting using the laser to ensure hits, develop the muscle memory so that I don't need to use the laser at all, and then no worries about the added step of getting it turned on. I don't have a sidesaddle or any other accessories- the idea being to keep the benefits of the compact/lightweight gun. The bonus is that once I'm happy with my point-shooting skill I still have a great laser I can put on my nightstand gun, or maybe an AR pistol. |

I'm having trouble finding +1 extensions for the 20 gauge. Are there any available other than Saurez?

Those Nordic tubes can be cut down and rethreaded. I've done a few for me and customers at the shop. Get the Nordic set and get it shortened. Easy.

Dont send a fucking dime to Suarez.
Look back 2 pages and youll see why. $300 and waited 6 weeks for an "in stock" barrel that looks like a 12yr old put together. I wouldnt piss on that fucking crook if he was on fire. |

I wouldnt piss on that fucking crook if he was on fire. View Quote When I looked for a rifle sight barrel, I got a Remington one instead of S/I... due to your post. Headache I didn’t want to deal with. Only issue with the Remington is that it uses compact rifle sights, so likely no RMR cowitnessing. But it is high enough above the bead that you get a more comfortable cheek weld when shouldering the S/I brace (which I am very happy with). My original route was going to be picking up a second TAC-14, put the rifle sight barrel/RMR on that, then have a brace to go between them. Now, I’m sticking with the one, and having two barrels and either the regular birdshead grip (actually S/I stippled one, which I bought with their Uke bag; guess they smoke there, as I had to air out the bag... but again, no issue) or folding brace. In short, sorry you feel that way. As a person, Suarez does rub me the wrong way. I’ve read a handful of his stuff, which I disagree with his approach. I’m a pussy because I know I’m responsible for every pellet I fire downrange? Ok, I can live with that. That being said, he is doing things with the TAC-14 that you don’t see most other people doing... even though I feel he (and S/I) are poking the ATF to the point that they might reevaluate the shouldering a brace issue due to it. If someone is looking to buy a 20 Gauge extension, and nobody offers one except him, it is sort of childish to say not to buy his. I still say you should have complained, even filed a complaint with your credit card company for the crappy work. It took me about twenty minutes between unpacking the barrel to sending them a message on it... and that was more to diagnose and take comparison pictures. |

Shifted the BCM grip back and on the left side. It makes a great hand stop for web of your hand. Still deciding on a brace option. The DM fits in the Hornady RFID safe without modification and, in my opinion, does a better job of keeping the weapon safe than the shotgun version as the trigger is not accessible in the safe. Secured by 3 lag bolts to the stud.
