Look in the Team forum.

Don't hold your breath on the AUG. Not only does Steyr have almost no US presence, now they have US Govt sanctions too.

I hope I'm wrong...I would love to have another AUG and 10 more spare barrels...but I'm not getting my hopes up.

That's why they're building a plant here. They get around the import restrictions if they're made in the USA.

I remember threads that were full of posts saying the PS90 would definitely never ever happen...and the pwnage that followed when the first pics were posted.

I think SIGArms will come through for us.

Just thought I would add this link to the sig forums for those that want some reading material.....

I still don't believe the "it's confirmed" statement, no offense Voldermortist, but I think that we will have
some kind of news from Sig come next month.

As much as I want the 55X, I am really starting to want NEED an ARM-L in a bad way

Oh, and I predict a feeble, arogant and confused Jeff Cooper will continue to push his scout rifle concept and remind everyone that the 1911 is the only real pistol.

Wow, kick the inventor of the modern pistol technique while hes down. Thats classy.

Without Cooper, we would still be shooting one handed, and putting our empty mags in out pockets. Cooper was, is, and always will be the guru.

New JCP pistols from Glock, SIG and HK
XCR two weeks away
FS2000, and SCAR on display for civilians
SG550 still a rumor
Glock Carbine
More 5.7 guns
More useless shit to bolt onto an AR15

What I want more than anything else to happen for me at SHOT

I guarantee in the next year or two you will eat those words. I've spoken to sig numerous times over the 550. it's coming........ be patient, quit being negative-nancy

If they dont hurry, they will be over-shadowed by newer, more capable and desireable weapons -

On the bright side...........by then they may qualify as a C & R.

Sig 55x still aint gonna happen. I dont see Swiss Arms allowing their baby to be produced by Sig Arms, a wholly different company. Their lock, stock, and trade is in extreme QC and reliability, and with an outside source manufacturing it, they cannot directyl control that.

I still dont see it EVER happening.

Even if it does, from everyone I have spoken with locally, it offers nothing over the AR platform. Its heavier, less modualr, and more expensive. This co,mes from several LE Depts here who have T&E'd the gun.

Not speculation:

SIGArms will announce plans for the 550 series.
Steyr will announce the AUG A3. MSRP <$1500. Availability is targeted for Oct '06.

WTH is an FN ARM? You mean FS2000?

Easy answer in any case - get them all! That's what I am doing. Get while the getting is good.

I gotta agree.  The whole attraction of this gun and the Aug is simply the "we can't have it" factor weighing in.  People always want what they can't have.

This is the only good reason I can think to buy any of the "new" guns coming out.  Simply to be able to sell them to some sap later on for a song.

With all due respect, the average cop is not the definite authority on the suitability of a semi-auto rifle for the wide range of uses that the board members here would have for it.  As Jeff Cooper once said "asking the Chief of police which pistol one should buy is like asking the grocery delivery boy which wine to serve with dinner.  He may know, but most likely does not."

You guys sound like your afraid your ARs will find out about your disloyalty and withhold their affection from you.  I own 2 ARs, but I would love the chance to buy a SIG 550, and not as an investment.  It is okay to have more than one platform.

Why would you want to?  What purpose does it serve?  I guess if you view firearms like collectible dishes that they sell on TV that's one thing, but if you see them as tools then there's really no point (in fact it's quite counterproductive) to having multiple platforms.

I don't consider myself a collector, but I am definitely an accumulator of guns.  As far as real world skills I don't think shooting my Garand or HK91 clone every now and then would bleed any of my AR skills from me.  I guess we agree to disagree.

I guess it depends on what kind of shooting you do.  I don't sit at a bench unless I'm sighting something in.  Otherwise it's all some sort of action shooting (whether training or competing).  In that type of shooting, using other firearms DOES affect your ablity to manipulate your primary.

The AR15 owns the US market now because it has no serious competition thanks to the 89 import ban, not necessarily because it's better than other systems out there. Not trying to bash the AR, just stating the obvious.

I need the US AUG for cheap spares for my original AUG. Real AUG parts are stupidly expensive.

I am one of those purists

SIG makes good stuff, and I'm really curious as to what is brewing. I was reading somewhere else that the 55s is Sig's answer to the 416. It's aiming for the exact same target market. Lets see how this plays out.

You know what would really suck ass, if SIG does show the 55s at SHOT and it is LEO/.Gov/.Mil only

I predict that the closest I'm going to be to the SHOT show this year is at the computer scrolling through all of the inevitable picture threads.

Other Predictions:

*Ares Defense will announce the Shrike MK II, deliveries expected by December, deposites to be excepted immediately after the conclusion of the SHOT show.

*ROBARM will again claim that deliveries should begin on their new XCR in "a couple weeks".  People will visit the booth to see if the XCR really exists.

*The FN, Sig, and Steyr booths will be the most popular among the civilian crowd.

*Colt and HK will comiserate together with their empty booths full of LE/Military only hardware, attempting to woo the civilian audience with the same-old, same-old.

*Vltor will announce a mid, and full length version of their CAS-V rail system (I hope).

*We will see an abundance of .308 ARs from all companies, excluding Bushmaster

I can't wait to see and hear all about the cool new stuff that should be coming out within the next year or so.  I'm particularly interested in the prospect of civilian legal Sig 550 series rifles and AUGs.  More things for me to divert my college money to.

I hope that they make the SG 550 version in addition to a version similar to the 551, as the 550 version would not need to be registered as a pistol in the state of Michigan because it's OAL is greater than 30".  I'm also hoping that if the rifle accepts AR magazines, it is because of an adapter, rather than a modified receiver, I want the original style mags!

Life is really looking up for us EBR types!  We should enjoy the next 2-3 years, as they may be our hobby's last.
