I dislike floody illumination for the reasons augee pointed out. I think I will find a new model MAWL and try it again. Excited to see innovation in the market. |

I have a "new" MAWL and the floody illuminator is only on the close range setting and it's just enough to let you see in pitch black. I roll on medium range anyway and it's all tight AF from mid to long. The triple click "A" is nice in long range setting. It's the fire of a thousand suns, but ain't got nothing on my full power PEQ-15, IMO. |

I wish the mawl had a low power pointer only option. Like 0.4mw pointer only. Similar to a fp peq15 on low pointer with the nd filter closed. |

In long range, triple click "B" gets you 0.7mW pointer only as well. |

I ended up comparing the PRE-Summer 2021 and the SUMMER 2021 versions and agree that, for me, the less "up close" illumination is preferable, so I'm keeping the new ones. I had recently upgraded from two (as far as I know) first gen MAWLS to the "Propeller Cap / more tactile adjusters" (What I'm calling the PRE-Summer 2021 version) and hadn't even fielded either MAWL yet. |
| I have both revisions and the new revision is better suited, for me, for indoor/CQB/thick woods/underbrush because of the lower mW mid A/B illumination, easy to toggle between those and toggle between short B/mid B. The older revision with mid A/B higher mW-simultaneous short, long illuminators definitely better for more open terrain, thin woods, less underbrush, but you still have the short B 5 mW illuminator with 0.4 mW pointer for CQB/thick underbrush, compared to the 5 mW illuminator with 0.25 mW pointer on the new revision. I use the previous revision on my dedicated hog-critter upper |

How many gens of MAWLs are we at now? My understanding was that there was the original, the improved tailcap (essentially the same, the version with the replaceable propeller, and now this version? If I’m looking for the version with the serviceable propeller what dates should I shoot for? Thinking about getting rid of my FP PEQ15 and an ATPIAL-C |

I think BPT is taking pre-orders. I don't see specs on the Wilcox website for a Class 1 version so I'm under the assumption that it's still in development or maybe they'll post the specs when they release the units? From another thread there's comments about dealers expecting to get the RAID-Xe in October or November. Email me if you want me to send my Strelok 40/150 yard zero trajectory table, or if anyone wants me to post here, that zero for my upper shoots real flat out to about 180 yards. I played around with a lot of zeroing distances and that one suits my needs. @gwood188 |

Did you play around with the selections? The "Eye Safe" ones are nearly $3500 - I'm on a list for a FP one which was quoted less than that. Now I need to double check! As someone new to night vision, is there a big difference between a MAWL from say... 2020 and a newly manufactured one? From what I can understand from the 2021 changes... they improved the long range illumination? And added new modes for more options for long range? |
