I'm not sure how that changes what I said. They didn't seem to be selling them fast enough one at a time so they sold them all at once. Still not a position a company takes when they "can't make them fast enough". That would be more..."can't sell them fast enough". |
The price is the problem if you are correct. Most EBR owners will not spend $1800-2500 on a rifle. They need to lower there price, because once a NATO Steyr hits the market there sells of their version will drop like a stone. |
I hope you got a good deal on your STG 556 rifle. MSAR STG 556 Rifles supply is high and demand is low that equals cheaper prices> Currently on Sturm, MSAR black STG 556 with scope for sale for only $1300 shipped!!
The way its going just wait a while and MSAR mags might be available for $20 each. As with anything, when demand goes down so will the prices. Just wait and see. Check with Davidsons, they have plenty of MSAR mags in stock. Currently 08/19/08 Davidsons still has over 150 STGs in stock, either they have sold any in a couple of days or they received more from MSAR. By the way, they are not allocated any more, that too means the STG 556 demand has gone out the window. Sooner or later we might be able to buy new STGs for $1000 or less!! Wow, that would be great!! |
Actually if you subtract the value of the extras I got with my MSAR, it was about $1400 NIB with optic ($1600 total with some mags and a siderail)- I got lucky on a Gunbroker bid. Allocation at Davidson's means the orders far outstrip the supply, if you use the fact that they have rifles in stock as a measure of failure then 99% of the companies they list guns for apparently have failed. I finally realized that you, like other people, for some odd reason seem to *want* to see MSAR and the STG-556 fail. I can only assume it really is an issue of sour grapes or fanboys who are irked that the STG-556 is not 'pure' or that it is cheaper than the original AUG(?) I suspect most of the people who trash it haven't handled one or don't own any AUG or AUG clone. I will admit that I too at first was leary of the STG-556, but after handling one I realized it is just an AUG made slightly different measurements- kind of like the difference between an inch and metric FAL- essentially the same guns, but the parts are not all interchageable. In the end the STG-556 still gives you the same perfomance as the AUG. But I realize my post is probably moot, kind of like trying have a logical argument with someone with Faith- the two people just aren't going to be able to agree on anything. |

Or perhaps some people know the history of the company and the many bridges it has burned from Florida to Pennsylvania. Maybe they know about the nightmare customer service issues, the promises to dealers and buyers never kept. Maybe they know about limited editions that were never very limited. Maybe they know about custom logos on production pieces. Maybe they know about years of broken promises and literal laundry list of past misdeeds. Maybe just maybe. Good luck with your MSAR rifle, you better hope a leopard can change his spots. |
I'm not trashing MSAR or any other company out there. All I did was provide info for the guys that were inquiring about MSAR mags and STG rifles. This is what the net is for, right? Information. I currently own an STG and a couple of Steyr AUGs. As I said earlier, just like anything else, supply and demand. Once supply out does the demand prices drops. Happens in every market with all items. Maybe thats why MSAR introduced new sub gun caliber STGs, they knew STG 556 sales wouldn't last for ever. Not every one out cares for the so called "assault rifles" Me, thats all I own |

The MSAR mags will at some point go down in cost as the supply will become larger. How much they'll come down is anyones guess, but I wouldn't expect a drastic price decrease. You'll probably see them come down to the $25-$30 range whereas now most places I know have them in the $30-35 range. The STG 556 mags are great magazines though made out of the best damn polymer you can really use. |
|
No kidding, so do I. I actually have some cash in my pocket and the plan was to buy the 9mm with rail. Now I have to decide if I should wait patiently or use the money to get something else that I have been wanting.....like the MSAR STG 556, which certainly wouldn't suck either |
IMHO, buy what is currently available. |
|
Just did.........placed an order via phone. $1570 shipped for 1 NIB MSAR 16" Black rail model with new muzzle device and fenced area around bolt release, plus 3 - 30rd smoke mags. That was the best I could find on the net. When the 9mm comes....I will have to try find more money
|
Good decision, and what sounds like a pretty fair price considering the magazines. I'm trying to decide between the MSAR or a XCR for my next purchase. |
The decision for me was more about price then anything...also, from the pics (I have never seen either in "Person"....the STG556 looks more refined, maybe that is just in the photos, but I think it looks better. I was concerned about the fact that it doesn't take AR mags. Then I realized that the mags it does use are pretty damn nice.....last I checked (I could be wrong) everyone wants this design of the transparent hi-tech polymere mag made for the AR.....so you would buy the damn things anyway....does that make sense???? So If I have to buy 5 premium mags that only work in one specific gun, so be it. Not all new guns can use the same mags....big deal. The replacement parts not interchanging with the AUG.....again, I don't see this as a big deal. If the guns run well and rarely brak parts, what does it matter if you have to buy a specific part, for me (I don't run thousands of rounds through any one specific gun per year) I probably will never need a replacement part anyway. That is why I went this way....plus, you had a point (and I typically feel the same way) buy the one that is available now.......I hate waiting on anything once I actually have the cash in hand. I hope it meets all my high expectations.....I am pumped. Sorry again for going off topic. I still have about $600 left in the fund....now I either buy more stuff for the MSAR, buy a GSG-5, or SAVE THE MONEY FOR THE 9MM MSAR |

Let's try to keep this thread on the original topic, namely the pistol caliber carbine that uses Glock mags. Lord knows there's multiple threads on the StG 556 on this forum. If some of you don't know what this thread is about look at the picture on the first post. |
I would go to MSAR directly with the question before trusting a distributor. Always better to get the info firsthand. You will also note that MSAR has been focusing a lot on making mods/upgrades to the STG-556 in response to public input on the gun. It may be that quite simply they all their resources are focusing on maximizing the return on investment of the STG-556 line before Steyr gets their AUG out. I do not think it is coincidence the most recent model of the STG-556 has the forward assist deleted and the sotck can now take AUG mags. They are working to sell to those who want a Steyr AUG A3 beffore Steyr can actaully get it to market. The MCS has a 'captured' market as there will be nothing else like it available in that price range, which means they don't have to rush to get it to market- focus on the current product to mazimize your profit, then move on when interest and sales taper off due to direct competition from Steyr. Another thought might be that their market research has shown they may have trouble recouping their return on investment for teh MCS at this time, hence it has been put on hold. btu once again, I woudl call MSAR direct and ask them if they still anticipate the MCS coming out in early 2009. [ETA] if there is one SMAR distributor I would trust on news on the MCS, it would be Ratworx. They have a lot of direct contact directly with MSAR and can get stuff that no other distrubutor can get. if Ratworx said 'shelved' then i would tend to believe it. When i talked to them mayb 4 weeks ago, they said they were planning on stocking the MCS as soon as it came out. |
I think someone needs to remind MSAR that Steyr has made a 9mm conversion for the AUGs.....and they could offer it again.....maybe that would light a fire under their a$$......haha![]() 9mm AUG |
|
Yeah, if I'm Tony over at MSAR I'm thinking I need to sell every 5.56x45mm rifle I can produce before the Steyr AUG enters the market place and increases competition for bullpup dollars. When Steyr releases their A3 I'd pop out with the MCS to maybe draw some of their thunder. |
That would definetly be a smart move on their part. |
YOU are a smart man. I agree :) |
This is what I was told Sept. 24th
