@winterstick

Building a matching set?

I have enough parts to build a few.

2 - m7 baseplates
3 - m8 baseplates
3 - m170 bipods (1 is 95% complete), and some spare parts (yoke and legs).

Going to disassemble the 95% one and scan all the parts.

Where'd you find that stuff?  I'd be interested in one of the sets if you decide to part with it.

That's the most M224 Lightweight Company Mortar shit I've seen in one place at the same time, since the Mortsr Square Ft Benning 1988.

Surplus rounds are available.  But myself and a few others have also developed homemade rounds to use. Mostly based on 3d printed shells and fins.

I've also made point detonating (less than 1/4ounce of explosives) tips for both surplus and homemade rounds.  They make a nice bang on impact.

Vega ballistics/destructive devices dot com and bonetti ordnance also make ammo for them.

Fantastic info. What do you use for the point detonating rounds? My brother and I mess around with smoke, flashbangs, and thermite- legally, of course- so a mortar seems like a natural extension.

They are mostly 3d printed, with the exception of a small Allen screw for a firing pin, a 209 shotgun primer, and some black powder. Smoky is better for a visual impact. Some people have uses other compounds with different additives to give more flash or bang. But you don't want to do anything too risky.

The nice thing about mortars is that you aren't usually holding on to the launcher when it fires, and the barrels are thick steel tubes. So if you happen to have a premature detonation in the barrel, it's unlikely to cause an injury with less than 1/4 ounce charge.
