Made the switch before last season to the Spott Hogg Fast Eddie.

Went with the single pin, 2 dot setup.  It works great for me but you cannot move either pin independently, so whatever range difference you get between the two pins with your bow, that is what you're stuck with.

For most of my hunting locations I set the top pin to 20 and the bottom ends up around 34.  This gives me accurate shooting out to 45 yards.  The sight itself looks like a steampunk abomination but it's light, durable, and after switching to the vertical pin I'll never go back to horizontals.  I love it.

I've been bowhunting for 10 years and have a five pin site set at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. I am wanting a 7 pin on my next bow to take me to 80.

Thanks @mac1020 for resurrecting this thread.  It is now the zombie archery thread...

I use 3-pin for hunting as I am shooting from elevated stands at known distances.  For 3D tournaments, I use a 5-pin sight.

1 pin

for spot and stalk, it is set at 35 yds. I'm in the kill zone out to almost 45 yds. if the critter is beyond 40 yds, I have time to range and adjust my sight.

1 pin, 25 yards.

Last year, I was running three pins and had several clean misses in a row. I started messing around with 1 pin and realized that I could actually see what I aimed at.

Since I'm hunting in PA swamps, most of my shot opportunities are nice and up close anyway.

Technically none since I run the EZV Sight, which uses stadiametric ranging. It does have yardage marks, but really all you do is zero at 20 and then verify out to max distance.

I have an older Spot Hogg Hoggit (5 pin) that is set up 20,30,40,50,60.
When I went caribou hunting I set the pins 40-50-60-70-80

Longest shot I have made on an actual game animal is 89 yards at a feral pig.
Longest shot I have made was in caribou hunting camp. Messing around at the practice range we kept moving back further and further to see who could hit the target from the furthest distance. I managed to get back to 132 yards and had a first shot 10 ring hit.

Hha tetra max single pin.

Best / most important upgrade, period.

5 pin sight, 0 to 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. My max distance for an absolutely perfect shot is 40. The 50 and 60 pins are for practice, makes short range shots very high confidence.

I'm still going back and forth on trying the EZ-V.

I know they have a money back guarantee but I don't have the time/space to do much shooting this year.  If we get our house built on our land next year I might give it a try.

@Towely

I have an extra old model if you want to try it. It's missing the bubble level.

I'd just need to know what your general initial arrow velocity is so I can make sure I have the correct insert and one slower/one faster.

3.  I use the stop light theory.  Red, stop and make sure the shot is perfect. Yellow, use caution for this distance and green, I'm pretty much lights out.

Red for 40

Yellow for 30

Green for 20

I am using a Trophy Ridge 5 vertical pin site and love it. It works with my eyes much better than horizontal pins and I like a pin for 10/20/30/40/50

easier for my brain to figure out. 30 yr pin is red, all the others are green.

Where i hunt, I almost never have anything more than a 30 yard shot
