Did anyone confirm if MSG Gordon used an Arms Mount or a squared off variant? (Similar to MGW weaver)

Ordered a couple of the MGW carry handle mounts.  The folks at MGW are very easy to work with.

Does anyone have suggestions on what ring mount to use if I'm going with an Aimpoint Pro?

For a Pro and if you want something old school looking I’d go with an old aimpoint thumbscrew mount, though they’re getting harder to find.

I used one of the extra 30mm Leupold weaver rings from my ‘one ring per order’ 2 packs

Does anyone know if midwestgunworks restocks the Leupold/SA rings or did I miss the boat?

Looking for one if someone is trying to let one go.

They come in and out of stock pretty regularly. Get on their email alert.

I signed up for alerts, just wasn’t sure if they’d actually restock. Thanks for the heads up.

Very nice. Hoping to pick my H&R lower up from my FFL later today.

FYI: I saw that you marked out the SN on the last pic, but I can still read it in the second pic. Not sure if you want to edit that.

Don’t do the thread to join the ends of the paracord. Use a fisherman’s or double fisherman’s knot. 100x stronger and just as compact.

So went to pick up my Geissele lower from an LGS i haven't been to in a few years. Seen an old bushmaster carry handle carbine. Looking at it the kid behind the counter says.  "you like that old junk?" I go, "its the best junk".
He goes in the back, brings out a few old colts. Says we have tons of this old colt stuff, doesn't sell in the store so we only sell it on gunbroker.
Context: i bought my 6520 from this place a few years ago, it was tucked away behind the counter mostly out of sight.

One of the guns he brought out was built 118 units before my 6520.
Came from the same agency and was originally bought in the same order as my current one. Except she somewhat salty... boy i about shit. I told him dont clean the skuffs and leave the hand guard on it (mentioned they have THROWN AWAY DOZENS of these and replace them with magpuls or repro car handguards. I said even leave  the ronchy ass sling. Hes like man you're wild. And went back and found the most stuffed up colt mag he could and threw it in for free.

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/517593/20230527_104336-2831013.jpg

Plans.

Going to pull the handguard for my m4, chop the barrel and hope that Ron can get a collar  spun up for it fingers crossed on that one.

Gonna be a while though, im not supposed to be spending money right now because we're about to put money on building a home, so only put down 40%.

I cant wait. Hopefully the ATF gets their f1 wait times in order, i have like 6 lowers that need f1s now smh.

Question, were A2 uppers ever used prior to going flat top?

So here is my carbine.  Its not 100% complete yet, but close enough.  I decided against paint the Aimpoint 5000.  Its in terrific shape.  I am gonna try to sell it, pickup a 9000 and pocket some dough for future projects.

Lower:

Bushmaster XM15E2S I bought from the late, great gunsmith Dave Berryhill
Schmid small parts
Colt 4 pos tube
Colt N1 stock, or Israeli knock off (I dont remember as I have both)
A1 grip
Yes there's an ambi-safe, but I'm, left handed
An original Booniepacker extra mag holder

Upper:

Anchor Harvey C7
Toolcraft BCG
USGI charging handle
DPMS A1 forward assist
DPMS A2 port door cover assembly
Global Ordnance skinny 6-hole handguard (Israeli)
Colt 6921 barrel
BCM A2X flash hider
Non-F marked front sight (dont know the brand)
Streamlight rail for Weaver direct mounted to the forend
Weaver branded scope ring
Laser Products/Surefire branded 6P w/ Malkoff module
Colt and ARMS branded Weaver carry handle rail

Notes: I actually painted the rifle 3 years ago.  I had everything except the optic and the light until recently.  I just located an Aimpoint 5000 mounted to a Belgian Browning Buckmark.  Anybody want to buy a pretty Belgian Browning Buckmark SE, holler at me.  I found the Surefire for $10 at an estate sale.  Hence I decided to complete the rifle.  I will do a strap up soon.

It started to rain when I took these pictures.  Yes I need to mow my stupid backyard.

I'm trying to decide if I want to add more green to the rifle like I did with the mags

Current state of my 6520. Very mid 90s vibe. One day ill track down a C7 upper and build a proper Mogadishu Era carbine.

Hopefully my other 6520 thats on layaway will have a thicker barrel so that i can get the collar for it.

I think it got lost in the noise, but any historical use of flip up caps on the long tube Aimpoints? Got my H&R lower in and assembled and will get the EF1 started in a day or two, so paint will be going on in a month or two.

I can tape off the lenses, but I like flip caps for storage and transport if they are accurate.

Honestly I doubt it. But if you want caps run caps. They pop right off for cloney pics soo what we dont know wont hurt us type deal imo.

No mention of flip caps in any of the manuals. Aimpoint 2000 mentions lens covers but as separate accessories.

Just as a note.....apparently some older aimpoint 9000's use the m68 erector tall adjusters. I cannot machine the taller caps shorter or do much as the threaded adjuster bodies are much taller, so I cannot make em look like the old style. I can machine em flat, but they will stick out a lot more. Just an FYI!

I made some Armorer changes to the Sawman.....as it's become my go to blaster:

Modular sling/bipod loop system, went to a BRMS as I really need the swivel, and a Vickers STD Issue sling.

Was going to ask if there’s a consolidated post or write-up covering the Sawman build. I’ve seen it referenced in a few of these threads. Guessing it’s named after a guy and his rifle?
