Design is for alignment purposes. Surely there is some anti rotation effect inherent to the design but how much I couldn't say. It could definitely be reworked to be a workable feature designed into the setup. Just found it interesting in design and it'd take all user error out of alignment.

GB comes with a dimple (pilot) for pin , BTW. And IIRC, no provision for set screws.

Another pic with the hole drilled for pin:

Is that an anti-rotation tab? That's something I've never seen before.

Would have though the gb issue would be more launching forward than rotating. Never seen either personally though, so what do I know.

KAC Mod 2 GB looks like another great idea. Index notch in barrel for lug on GB in combination with a castle nut for securement. Looks pretty damn solid.

I prefer a pinned gas block. But I don’t have the setup at home to do them myself.

So, I dimple with a jig directly opposite the hole and use Rocksett. With a good dimple, 10 in-lbs is enough.

Don’t gorilla torque it and you won’t have to worry about barrel stresses affecting accuracy.

If you’ve ever seen the inside of a gas block, you don’t need a Bridgeport for proper alignment to cover that hole.

I'd go with pinned gb if exposed or if serves as a mount, or dimpled if under the rail + blue loctite.
The dimpling is quite helpful to set gas block to top dead center with tight gas block mounting area which very useful recently with a green mountain 7.62x39 barrel and slr gas block build -- just torque and loosen a few times to align.
I send barrels to adco for $10 single dimples or for the pin job.
