| Just bought 500 rounds of this based on it being affordable 75gr. Most of my other ammo is Tula, Federal 223, m193, and m855 with very little "serious" ammo. My thouhts are that balisticly it would perform similarly to prvi 75gr which is decent (signficantly better than the military rounds). As far as accuracy I would probibly use it as a home defence round so were talking about 10 yards max so its not a huge deal. That being said, is there any other updates on this, chrono data, ballistic data, other range reports? |

Had two students use it in a recent Spetsnaz Sniper course put on by Behind Lines (Behindlines.net)
Shot out to 600 yards with it. They both did fine and one was actually top shooter of the class. He was using a Bravo Company 18 inch DMR upper. He made consistent first round hits on LaRues at 600 yards with it. It shot better than I thought it would........ |

This test isn't really statistically meaningful, but for now, I'd recommend against buying any Wolf 75 grain HP .223 for any purpose that required a high degree of accuracy. |

Wolf 75 grain HP: Lot - B
I purchased a new lot of the Wolf 75 grain hollow point Performance Ammunition and performed an accuracy (technically precision) evaluation of it in the same manner as described in the first post of this thread. For this evaluation I also used a different 20” Colt HBAR than the one used in the first evaluation as the test vehicle. This barrel has a NATO chamber, chrome lining and a 1:7” twist; just as the barrel used in the initial evaluation. This barrel was also free-floated. The rest of the set-up was basically identical in capability to that described in the first post, including front and rear rests and a Leupold VARI-X III set at 25X magnification. As always, the wind conditions were monitored using a Wind Probe. 
Prior to firing the Wolf ammunition, I fired a 10-shot control group from 100 yards using match-grade, hand-loaded 55 grain Sierra BlitzKings. The extreme spread of that group measured 1.03”. 
Next, five 10-shot groups of the Wolf 75 grain HP load were fired in a row from the bench at a distance of 100 yards. The extreme spreads for those five groups measured: 3.41” 6.09” 3.59” 5.43” 4.63” for a 10-shot group average extreme spread of 4.63”. Over-laying all five groups on each other using RSI Shooting Lab produced a 50-shot composite group with a mean radius of 1.24”. The “smallest” 10-shot group.

With the addition of these newest five groups, we now have a combined total of ten, 10-shot groups, fired by two different shooters, from three different barrels, using two different lots of the Wolf 75 grain Performance Ammunition. The results are summarized below.

Damn dude... those groups suck! I shot PMC 55gr. ammo this weekend out of my 16" 1:7" twist barrel and was getting tighter groups with iron sites from prone than that.... I will certainly steer clear of this ammo.
Cheap ammo is just that ... cheap, unless its reloads

Wow. If I had time I'd like to pull 10 of those projectiles and load them into some commonly accepted 'accuracy' recipe. It's hard to believe that case/powder/primer variations alone could produce such large groups. Bullets must be out-of-round or something.

At one point during firing, I experienced a stoppage. Locking the bolt back to examine the chamber area, I discovered a fired case stuck in the chamber and observed that the extractor had torn throuh the case head. The case had to be tapped out of the chamber using a cleaning rod inserted from the muzzle. This is the only time that I have ever had a case stick in the chamber of any of my AR-15s.

Friend showed me this after shooting my 75grn gold match wolf in my suppressed 16". I get .5 MOA out of a 7 twist white-oak BBL and have consistently shot 4" groups at 500 yards with it - my best being just over 3" with witnesses. I've also shot silver bear 62grn JHP with .54 MOA results out of my clark gator and that REALLY caused a shit-storm on another board. People got down-right belligerent.
I'm scratching my head here as to why you got 5" at 100 yards, and also noticed that extractor tearing off the back of the rim you can clearly see in the pic that the chamber was cruddy. |
