I'm running a CMMG dedicated .22LR 4.5" barrel/bolt/carrier pistol setup and I'm considering a binary trigger for it, and although I can't think of any reason why the components wouldn't work together in a milspec lower (according to Franklin Armory - they will), I'm open to ideas about any possible snafu's.

Or am I just overthinking this?

Thanks for taking to time to ponder and comment

No binary trigger personal experience, but IIRC from reading about this, you'll also need the CMMG auto sear trip and an anti-bounce weight (ABW) from any of several sources or DIY; or you would have to perform the so-called "ball-detent mod" which is a spring loaded detent that mitigates bolt bounce without adding reciprocating mass to the overall system.
What I do have is personal experience shooting a dedicated CMMG 4.5" bbl. .22LR upper on an M16 lower (with CMMG trip and ABWs from CMMG, Ciener, and DIY, but I have not yet tried borebuddy - who is another ABW vendor that other ARFCOMMERs have used).  That 4.5" bbl. experience prompted me to build another CMMG .22LR upper, but with a 9" bbl.  The 4.5" bbl. was too short for my taste.  Support hand gets too close to the muzzle, and I don't have a full auto rated suppressor as a number of shooters who use the 4.5" bbl. do.

Hopefully, others with experience will share and/or correct my comments.

MHO, YMMV, etc.  Best of luck.  Be well.

ETA: From what I have read, the Ciener sear trip is not compatible with the CMMG system.  You might also run across Spike's Tactical sear trips and ABWs from 10-12 years ago.  The ABW should be okay, but the trip is of the same pattern as Ciener so is not likely to be compatible.

It is my understanding that the CMMG kit will work with the Franklin Armory trigger, no need for the CMMG auto sear trip kit. The Echo trigger will need the CMMG auto sear trip kit, but with modifications to the kit.

I ran two different CMMG setups with the Franklin Binary trigger in a milspec lower.  The CMMG drop in 22LR kit, which simply replaces the 223 BCG, and later a dedicated barrel/collar setup (if this is what you're asking?). My Dedicated barrel is a 7.5 with collar. No auto sear or any other mods required for the lower. Just follow the directions on the install and you should be GTG.

I don't think I ever over-ran the 22 bolt group. Lots of fun and ran flawlessly.

**eta: the Franklin binary trigger also worked well with a 5.56, x39 and 300blk uppers!

Mine runs as described in the post above.  No modifications.

Good news and bad news.  The good news is, even better than a 100 round drum, there once used to be an adapter for American 180 drums which can be 165, 220, or 275 rounds.
The adapter is described here:
https://pdfaiw.uspto.gov/.aiw?PageNum=0&docid=20100083818&IDKey=B9CE53EA6931&HomeUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fappft.uspto.gov%2Fnetacgi%2Fnph-Parser%3FSect1%3DPTO1%2526Sect2%3DHITOFF%2526d%3DPG01%2526p%3D1%2526u%3D%25252Fnetahtml%25252FPTO%25252Fsrchnum.html%2526r%3D1%2526f%3DG%2526l%3D50%2526s1%3D%25252220100083818%252522.PGNR.%2526OS%3DDN%2F20100083818%2526RS%3DDN%2F20100083818

And a review is here:
https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/Bazooka_Brothers_AM180_M16_AR15__22_drum_adapter_range_report/15-435026/

The bad news is, few if any of the people who bought the adapters were able to repeat the success, so production and sales ceased.

MHO, YMMV, etc.  Be well.

Thanks! It looks like the drums can still be found, but the adapters are tough to find.

What little I could find about them online, it appeared that folks were trying to use them with bumpstocks. I wonder if anyone tried one with a binary trigger?
