I've wondered that too.
Though it might get to gaudy with logos in to many places...

Didn't BCM used to have "billboard" uppers?

LaRue does

Because Noveske doesn't want you buying their upper for looks or name and then running out of money and throwing a BCA barrel on it, making it shoot like shit. Consumers at least realize uppers and lowers are completely independent but could construe it as a Noveske built upper that oerforma like garbage.

Better to leave the name off it.

Lol Should I tell him or does someone else want to?

Some do. My DD mk18 has big laser engraving on the left side of the upper. BCM and several other companies do it too. I think most people would prefer to not have the obnoxious branding.

Geissele does.

Plenty do.

I'd suspect it has as much to do with how few really produce them in house, and what it does to per unit pricing, whereas with the lower the markings are required by the ATF.

I think uppers tend to be REALLY cost effective to order in bulk.

BCM and PSA etch their logo on their uppers, plenty of others do too.

It might benefit an OEM to add their roll mark to every part to guarantee you're buying an OEM product.  I was thinking about creating a different logo for DIY parts versus OEM guns, but an OEM part could be re-purposed for a DIY build.

Number one reason... because they are not legally required to.

Larue does . . .

Not "stamped" but still readily visible . . .

Going with cost, may not add a lot but gun profit margins are pretty narrow.

This is why some do it and others do not.  It adds cost to engrave, laser etch, or stamp something.  Not a buttload, but some.  For a an upper made to compete at bargain prices, the extra work either cuts into profits or increases cost, a larger disadvantage nowhere else than the low-end of the market.  And when it comes to the mid and high end markets, there's buyers who prefer uppers with markings and those without, so both are plentiful.

Maybe it's me, but it seems more common with billet uppers to cut a name or logo in, as billet uppers are already more time consuming in the CNC machines, and therefore typically more expensive to produce.

My Daniel Defense 11.5" upper has big laser etching on the left side. A little Rustoleum fixed that.

Only upper tiers mfg does in some way.

Some laser engraved the uppers but then people complained about those white logos…
Some just add a forging mark like colt armalite etc

Rock River Arms, VLTOR, Armalite, BCM, PSA, LMT, Daniel Defense, Larue, Geissele, Colt, FN, V Seven, Spikes Tactical, and KAC just to keep a running list.

When sighting in the backup sights on this build, I see this.  Its the only clue to the manufacturer of the upper.  Not visible when the rear sight is lowered.

I think this is probably correct for most.
I bet lots of them do not make them in house and subcontract them out. Adding their name adds to the cost and takes away from the bottom line.

But like mentioned, there are quite a few who do mark their uppers.

LMT does, on both types of their uppers:

So nobody can see that I went with a 29.99 upper from Anderson.

Both of my BCM complete factory uppers have their logo laser engraved on the rear upper right side under the pic rail. They also laser engrave the BFH and hammer on the front upper left side on receivers mated to cold hammer forged barrels. They are forged receivers.

My gen 3 Noveske Infidel complete factory upper has NOVESKE milled into the left side of its billet receiver.

My Geissele Super Duty complete factory upper has a raised G next to the forge mark on the rear upper right side of its forged receiver.

This right here, it's why I won't buy DD or BCM rifles/receivers.  Unless they're unmarked, usually blems, of which I have some from BCM.

I can't stand advertising.
