I used to have 4 Vietnam era USGI M16 mag pouches that held 3 mags each that I kept on a Bianchi USGI web belt that gave me 12 mags ready to go.  I’m just wondering what is out there now days that is cool I’m getting back into AR’s and need some way to carry some mags around.

Are we talking ready to go to the range or are we talking ready to go boogaloo?

This will suffice for either, for cheap.

Shit I am still using the Korean & Vietnam era harness, web belt/gear pouches, canteens, mag pouches and camillus pilot survival knife that I was given back in early/mid 70' from my pop, uncles and cousins whom are combat veterans.

It's but worn but has held up well all these years, used as my hunting gear mostly full of a roll of shit paper, bug spray, cigarettes, poncho and couple boxes of 12ga shells when I'm rabbit, squirrel, bird or duck hunting, if deer hunting its few extra rounds, beef jerky and a biscuit.

On occasion pouches be stuffed full of 30rd ar mags or garand clips

For belts with pouches to carry things in, I would suggest starting at the end of this thread until you get to a point where you've got what you were wanting to see.

Feel free to ask any questions, lots of answers. My suggestion would be to esstac all the things but you may find otherwise or not.

@Croak and @hoody2shoez have been very helpful and informative there.

For carrying to the range and whatnot, esstac makes a nice Mag Bag in 10 or 6 counts.

Depends, keep spare mags in 7 pocket bandoliers (20 rd mags) or 4 pocket bandoliers (30 rd)  Pull white string on bandos.  Keep them stashed all over.

I have a chest rig from Condor that holds 6 mags, then I attached a SAW. pouch to the front Moller that holds 5 more.

Still have my old school LBE. Works perfectly fine.
Also, have a few bandoliers stashed around.

Plate carrier with taco pouches (upgraded from an 8 pocket chest rig that is now in reserve)

re-purposed (as designed) GI four pocket ammunition bandoliers

GI six pocket magazine bandoliers

GI three mag ALICE pouch on an ALICE belt

Loose in a range bag

Hip pocket

All depends on what I'm doing or planning to do, but my favorite setup is the plate carrier and tacos. Very fast to change mags.

For range use & 'grab n go' I picked up a number of inexpensive surplus 4-cell AK-47 pouches w/shoulder straps.
Placed some closed-cell foam in the bottom as a spacer for the difference in AK/AR mag length.
Of course, chest rig & plate carrier have different setups.

Usually a plastic Walmart bag. Paper if I’m feeling classy that day.

Mag bra is a easy go to option that has lasted me for years. I have used a Chinese type 63 mag bra for almost 20 years now for FAL mags. The Condor type mag bra holds six AK mags just fine and has worked well.
I have LBE for both the 223 and 308 but find it needlessly clumsy. For 3 gun I did like a Blackhawk Strike Load Bearing Equipment with single mag pouches around it.
