Don't know if the electro etching idea is going to be good enough for my completed 601 lower. What do I need to do to get it engraved?

Heres a couple of my electo etched. Agreed,,,,"Not PeRfECt. But, my understanding that none of the factory rollmarks are perfect either. I think they,re "GOOD ENOUGH". Other than this, John Brace,,,forum member does fantastic work. Hes done at least 6 for me. Sorry, bottom pic is probably too small to see. If you need, i will have to take more pics? ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO BLOW THESE UP?

awesome reply, thank you.

Now full disclosure is I don't feel comfortable etching because my harbor freight battery charger won't give any juice and I don't know why. So I tried with a 9V battery and it took about 15 minutes for barely any depth. I want depth, thus I ask about possible engraving.

All of my "Engraved" ones from BRACEMAN look awesome! But,,,the depth is VERY SHALLOW! I get waaay more depth electro-etching. I am using an old Laptop charger that i cut the end on and attached alligator clips. I think it is 13 Volts DC. Heck, i sit in front of the TV and do this; probably takes a minute per letter (combined, as i have to do approx 5-10 seconds then let it cool, while i go to another letter, then come back). Good luck with what ever you choose. Remember,,,,,post pics as we all LOVE Pics!

Heres up close of my most recent. Also, my rig is actually 19 VDC,,,,simple computer charger with some leads attached to it. You dont have to worry bout having a fuse (the charger has a built in circuit breaker) Please excuse poor quality I,m trying to do this with my 55.00 Walmart Cell phone.

Anyone use LasAR15 for engraving? They seem to have some decent designs. I don’t think they can engrave completed lowers, only 80%.

Just get some electrical tape (to act as the stencil) use an exacto knife to cut out a design. And, practice on some scrap aluminum. Its very safe. I use approx i cup of distilled white vinegar mixed with approx two tablespoons of kosher salt. You dont want iodized or any flavors or impurities in it. Have fun Maguiver! Oh yeah, i almost forgot, Phil, at dogfightinc has 601stencils you may have to email him, as his web sight no longer advertises the Colt lineup.

I just had LasAR15 do this one on an 80% anodized lower.  Seems deep enough, I will use alumablack to blacken the engraving.

Yeah I want to try this too.
Here is a good detailed video I found.
He does the whole side of the mag well at once instead of the q-tip method.
Probably doesnt matter which way you do it.
Gordog's look good.

Who makes good stencils with various roll marks?

Can you just use a 12v car battery?

Yea, I've done one with a 9v battery.

This is the guy that made them for me. I asked him if he could add my name, serial number, and city/ state, in lieu of the Colt markings. He was able to, and even made a couple just for standard 80% lowers.
