Looking for a covert or discrete means of carrying a 5.56 pistol with 10.3 barrel and A2 Flash Hider. Law Folder and SB Tactical SBA3 Brace.  Mainly for in vehicle use and storage.  I am familiar with the Vertx brand and considering their Checkpoint or even possibly a duffle bag.  I run a 1.93 taller Scalarworks mount with a Holosun and would like to be able to have a 30 round mag inserted.

Any of you running just a properly sized case that fits a folded AR versus a backpack and if so what?  Thoughts on tool bags or other options for something that is discrete and works well not folded?

Thoughts?

You looking for something with tie downs/Velcro and and what not? Or just a discreet means of stashing in a vehicle?

Most of the info in that thread is about shorter pistols than 10.3 plus I want to be able to insert a full size 30 round mag

My 10.5 fits good in a tennis racket case.

Covert and misleading.

Was at the LGS today and all their bags have the ridiculous tacticool nonsense and crap hanging all over them.  I need a simple backback that's not huge but will hold a 7.5" pistol with a law folder and is obviously pretty rugged.

Suggestions?

I agree. In my area a "Dewalt" bag would attract more thieves than a bag labeled with a gun manufacturers logo!

Hazard4 PlanB or Rocket will fit the 10.3 but, you won't fit a 30 rounder. I run 20 rounders if I want to carry it with a mag in. Tennis racket bag is the same way, 30 rounder won't fit.

I'm  running the 5.11bag with both a 7.5 upper T1, Law folder and 30 round mag and 10.5 upper with an Eotech and a 30 round mag.

I'm a bit of a gear-whore/snob so don't mind paying more for the good stuff. Just picked up the Haley Strategic INCOG sub gun bag for my truck gun. 10.5" with Law folder. DD rear right, A2 FSP. 29" LOA, 21" folded. 30rd Gen3 Magpul.

I kept going between a true rifle bag (MOLLE/PALS, pockets, etc.) and something low profile (tool/tennis racket/duffle bag) but neither was perfect. One had too much stuff I'd never utilize and the other had nothing expect a pocket or two.

The HSP INCOG has best of both, still low-pro but with features that work/are needed to carry a firearm. Plenty of room left if I'm going to the range. The expanding zippered pocket can hold a lot and is perfect for a small chest rig/mag carrier.

The MOLLE pouch is from Condor. The tie-downs from WRB in Texas. HSP dual mag pouch on lid. I added shock cord and cord lock for extra retention.

I have a tennis racket bag for a 10.5" with an A2 and a normal stock. Folding should fit great. I also use a 20 round magazine.

I looked around and finally went with a Vertx Ready Pack 2.0.  I don’t regret it at all.  If you’re patient, you usually snag a Vertx at a pretty good price.  IMO, it was worth the wait.

I really like the Mystery Ranch front.  The brace fits in the hydration pouch and the front zip lets you get into the bag without taking the gun out.
I keep 3 Kifaru pullouts(Med,Snacks,Hygiene) a pack-able rain coat, and a mid-weight pullover in it.
Gun is a 10.5 that now has a single cell Modlite PHL V2 on it.

Would a 11.5" fit in the Mystery Ranch?  Do you remember what liter size your bag is?  I think they make 2 or 3 different sizes.

I just use a plain backpack, and a 20 round magazine. I have a couple 30 round magazines in the pack as well.

I think that's cool as hell, but it's also still a target.
