I need to purchase one, and i feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
BCM is selling their bolt carriers for $200? These are salad day prices? There's also a bunch of other companies I don't recognize. So what's the go to right now? |

You rounding up, or looking at some fancy ion-bond coated BCG?
I see $169 MSRP for these all over the place. Accounting for inflation, that's about what they've always been outside of panics. Tons of nice BCG's all over the place. I have more carriers than I know what to do with so I usually just get decent bolts; BCM/DD/Sionics/SOLGW/etc for $65ish Toolcraft and AIM surplus are popular for complete basic BCGs. |

I have a dozen PSA premiums and they are good with no problems at all, I believe they even have them on sale right now.

I just bought 2 toolcraft BCG for $59 each from AR15 store
Price is good but the shipping was high. In any event, it is a pretty good deal. |
|
Psa puts that stupid logo on them
Toolcraft for 65-70 is the go to Bca is 45 right now and fine. Have one in beater build, works great |
|
PSA premiums are made by Toolcraft, and use C158 bolts. I have never had an issue with them and feel they are identical in every way to BCM.
This for $60 and free shipping: https://palmettostatearmory.com/palmetto-state-armory-5-56-premium-full-auto-bolt-carrier-group-8779.html If the logo gets your panties in a wad, then pay an extra $10 for the no-logo model for $70 and free shipping. https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-5-56-premium-hpt-mpi-full-auto-bolt-carrier-group-no-logo-39339.html |

Who doesn’t have a bunch of BCGs laid back? Other than OP.
That stuff will be better than bitcoin one day. |
|
I'm probably alone, but it seems like I'm getting a lot of BCGs that are really tight. Hundreds of rounds until the bolt moves freely. Carriers that need to get pushed really hard to snap onto a BEV block. Retainer pins flared to hell that won't go back in easily.
Doesn't hurt a thing, just observations. |

Other than the 2 Toolcraft that I got a smokin' deal on this year, I am sure that I paid too much for them; they are Spikes, WMD, and one DD. They are sitting on my cases of .22 LR |

BCM are the only ones who want a premium. Everyone else is fair priced. I think Spikes are better and way better prices
|

Unless you value the brand (Colt, KAC) or want some design features (JP, LMT), I'd never pay more than $100 for a bog standard milspec BCG. Plenty of quality ones for less.
I don't think BCM has strong enough a brand to warrant the premium, but then again what I do know. |
|
It's fine, I'm still waiting patiently for Young Mfg to finish their next production run so I can go blow $200 on another chrome national match carrier. Friggin works of precision art those thing.

I have had good results with the Vltor BCGs. Bootleg is always a sure bet too, but the premium PSA made by toolcraft, you are just throwing money away buying anything else

I didn't realize these were such a hot commodity. |

I talked to them Saturday when I ordered the MaTech rear sight/CH combo. Their expecting more in after the 1st of the year. I'm thinking of grabbing one to stick in my BCM 14.5 Socom upper, it's got a Toolcraft now so I might not though....I might just use it as a spare (and I have 4 PSA's and a AIM BGC here now.....)
|
|
|
Tell you what OP, I'll sell you one of my spare Toolcrafts for $150, thus saving you $50.
(Note to mods, not a serious for sale offer.) |
