I thought 6.5 was more of a flat shooter, maybe hand loads?

You're getting close to what Eagle got with his 12" 6.5g with the exception of the Wolf. He only averaged 2142 fps (nearly 200fps less than you) which I think surprised a lot of us.

What 12” 6.5 Grendel barrel were you using?   Eagle was using a 12.5” Hansen BA barrel with Enfield rifling.   Curious if you were using 5R rifling, Enfield (traditional land & groove), polygonal ect.

6 5 G is slow and only shoots flatter at longer ranges due to a better BC. Also requires a long barrel for decent velocities. 6.5 Creedmoor has a LOT more case capacity to reach 2700-2800 fps range. If you dont shoot oast 300 there is not much advatage to a 6.5G over a 77 grain 5.56.

Chrono some common factory ammo today. SBR with factory ammo.

11.5 factory complete Daniel Defense Upper with M4-2000:

CBC Magtech 77 Mk262 = 2,400 fps  :  This round did alright, but has some weird groups with this upper for some reason.
IMI M855 62gr green tip = 2,569 fps  :  This round is a solid 1 MOA with this barrel, which is nice.

12.5" upper with KAK midlength gas barrel with TREK-T :

CBC Magtech 77 Mk262 = 2,492 fps  :  This round is a solid 0.8 MOA with this barrel, which is nice.

IMI M855 62gr green tip = 2,680 fps

16" Ballistic Advantage barrel upper with TREK :

CBC Magtech 77 Mk262 = 2,620 fps  :  This round is slightly sub 1 MOA with this barrel, which is nice.

9" BCM factory blackout upper with Omega :

110 Barnes TAC-TX black tip blk = 2,128 fps   :  this is about a 3 MOA round/barrel combo.

10.3" Ballistic Advantage 300 blackout barrel with SDN6 :

125gr Fiocchi blue tip SST 125 = 2,030 fps  : This round is a solid 1.3 MOA with this barrel, which is nice.

Well, it was probably well over 100°F when I tested. That might explain the difference in velocity. I'm not sure.

The rule of thumb is to expect a roughly 1 FPS velocity change per degree F of temperature.  IE, if you test an ammo at 50 degrees F, it would be roughly 50 FPS faster if you shot it at 100 degrees F.

Something to consider.

Altitude affects velocity some too.

Down here at sea level, we typically have faster race times at the track, but you guys at higher altitude get the benefit of faster moving bullets.

Interesting, maybe my chrono was at an angle or off, I'll have to try again.

Will you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a gel test with the 77 Magtech Mk262 clone round with a 10." barrel. It seems very popular and its extremely accurate. I think its a different bullet than Black Hills and IMI.

Send @bluefalcon a pm.

I think all he asks is for you to send him a few of the rounds that you want to see tested.

They are all just basically an MK262 clone using the same bullet. Here's a a test @bluefalcon did of the IMI 77 grain Razor Core from a 10.5" barrel.

Also,
I was under the impression that the Magtech CBC 77 uses a 77 SMK without Cannelure, the Black Hills has a Cannelure which helps in fragmentation, and the IMI uses their own special 77gr bullet that fragments but also expands.

Has anyone pulled these?

I would be happy to send money for him to order the ammo and try the exact 77 CBC that I would use.

That only matters at range.  The thinner the air the less air resistance and the better the bullet will retain velocity.

Little to no impact on muzzle velocity though.

It can have a dramatic effect at 1000yds.  Where I live has modest elevation, 2800'.  A dope card compared to sea level is VERY different.

On the Magtech website, they list the ammo as: 5.56x45 HPBT 77 GR Cannelure and say that it's an SMK bullet. I can not find any info that states that IMI makes their own bullet for the 77gr Razor Core. Everything I find says it's an SMK. If you have links that state otherwise, please post them. I would like to see them.

What?!! Why?

Also, I Chronod the 90gr TNT from my Howa 16" barrel bolt gun and it averaged 2,812 fps. But I think they discontinued it? I can't it any more. Which sucks because its a nice round.
