Wanted to do a (mostly) black build because I just am sorta burnt out on FDE/DDC everything. Hadnt built out an upper in a little bit- I think I may have gotten bit by the "bug" again just in time for the world to shut down and for prices skyrocket...

Short story on this rifle.

I bought it in 2014 from Dsg as a complete noveske MOE 10.5 and set it up to be a mk18 clone with a ta31g, surefire fury, ddmk18 rail, sf3p, sopmod, raptor CH, and socom can. It functioned flawlessly through several classes and even went to designated marksman school twice. I didn’t like 10.5s and thought they were too finicky but this changed my mind. I hit 13/14k rounds and the accuracy suffered a little bit but it still shot good and I figured it was time to tear the rifle down for a total rebuild.

Geissele SSA-e and mk4 rail, new surefire hider, raptor ch, same sopmod and ergo pistol grip, new lower springs, buffer and buffer spring, cerakote in Multicam, dsg ambI safety and selector detent/spring, new 12.5 upper from noveske.

I got it back today and I was blown away. I tossed on the aimpoint (doesn’t look right) and vfg and the can and it feels amazing. The trigger is smooth as glass. First stage there’s a definite step then a little further and click.

I can’t wait to shoot it.

I just need KAC or magpul pro irons, acog with RMR, laser, single cell scout light, and it’s done.

I don’t get to shoot it until June when I get back unfortunately

I live in a newer development in the 'burbs, so I don't have a lot of property to worry about; they're more than fine for the ~150 feet that I would need to ID someone.

If you have a large parcel of property that you might have to scan, I'd opt for one of Modlite's offerings.

I was searching around and found that cheaperthandirt (don't flame me too hard) had them in stock apparently...and at a clearance price..? I dunno, my confirmation email hasn't come thru yet but it looks like they're closed on weekends so I'll see if i get it tomorrow and give them a call to verify. At the price, I didn't want to miss it.

Yes. It is a B5. I also found it too smooth and I had a guy stipple it for me. My neighbor just showed me a new B5 grip he bought and is factory stippled and looked and felt very good. It was black. I do not know if they are stippling the coyote grip.
