Seems it’s already been answered. Outside of Bushmaster/Windham, KNS Precision makes some that might fit the bill. I purchased their assortment (7 different posts) a few years back. While the variance in widths/styles is their selling point, I’m fairly certain they also vary in height (with a few being taller than a standard FSP).

Overall, I definitely recommend them for anyone wanting to experiment with different FSP designs. In particular, I really like their smallest (width) dot post and the v-notch/inverted models.

Keep a proper nose to charging handle cheek weld, and you won't need one.

Taller front sight posts are for those who don't know the fundamentals of iron sight shooting.  Check out the video in my signature.

Taller posts are for shorter sight radius' with a non-F base, and non standard zeroing.

300-100yds is about 5 MOA up, 1 rev. By my math, that's 0.020", about a thumbnail thickness.
If tolerances makes the post crown above deck a little with 300yd zero, taller may be necessary for the base to have a good hold.

And once again, you're wrong.

Some builds require them depending how the rifle is zeroed.

But please, educate the masses on iron sight shooting.  I hope it involves a good shake.

I'm right.  Let's see a picture of your shooting form.

Don't have a pic of me shooting my A2 in carbine form, but here's this from May 2014:

OP, in addition to 0.040" taller, look for one that is ~0.050" wide. At the carbine sight radius, it looks like the standard 0.070" wide post at rifle length.

The army wouldn't approve narrower than .062 front sight posts for carbines as it was found the integral strength of posts thinner was unsatisfactory.

They should've made bigger ears like the M1917.

When M16A2s were issued at Camp Perry SAFS, there were several mentions of bent posts. In addition to broken/stuck rear sights, dirty, general neglect. OHNG may have yanked them for .gov reasons, but I think the complaints of the poor quality spurred CMP to get RRA rifles for SAFS events.

this is sorta off the taller front sight post thing. I have an F marked FSB on a 727 carbine. Should I install a shorter than normal post to account for the F marked FSB being mounted higher on barrel.

Thanks cardude

Standard should work fine.

It's the deck (has the arrow and UP) of F-marked that's 0.040" higher. Shorter sight radius' requires a higher post position relative to barrel, so it sits proud of the deck in non-F.

Revised Improved Battlesight Zero is basically moving the 300yd zero up 5 MOA, which requires moving the post up to allow a 100yd zero with the rear sight at bottom. My math has that as 0.020" difference. Could be proud enough that the detent doesn't hold the post well.
