Just picked up an Aimpoint T-2 for a URGIE inspired build. Ive browsed some mounts online (Scalarworks, Geissele, Larue) but I'm looking for some opinions on which way to go. Bonus points to anyone who has a photo of their set up.

I have a LaRue QD and its rock solid. Its not cheap but it just works...
ETA, yep, its the LT-660 |
Larue LT660 is great but after using a Scalarworks LEAP I have seen the light

Unity Tactical FTW. Comes with built in BUIS and compatible with their FTC magnifier mount.
Attached File That said just about any quality mount will work. |
I’ve moved over the Scalarworks myself but I do have one Reptilia Mount because I wanted a tanodized 1.93 mount. It’s a solid mount, lightweight as well.
All of my red dots have scalarworks mounts. I won’t use anything else.
Reptilia or Unity if you like 1.93+ height. I recently swapped all my optics to 1.93 or 2.26 via Reptilia, Badger, and Unity...well worth it.
I just bought a Spuhr mount, and it’s about as bomb proof as you can get.
https://www.milehighshooting.com/spuhr-qdm-2002-aimpoint-micro-compm5-mount/ It’s repeatable, no POI shift and will not damage your rail. |

Thank you guys for the inputs. QD isn't a deal breaker for me as this dot will be co-witnessed. I have read nothing but good things about the Larue mount. There's just something about those scalarworks and G mounts that are aesthetically appealing. I haven't looked at the reptilla mounts. I will be giving them a browse as well. You guys are supposed to be making this easier!

Knight’s High-Rise for use with NODS.
Scalarworks if weight is a concern. Reptilia for Q Honey Badger. LT stuff is great as well. |
I have some LT660s and they are my go to for Lower 1/3. On my latest rifle I wanted something taller for Passive NV aiming. For this purpose I cannot recommend the Unity FAST mount enough. I love the heads up shooting and getting behind it under NODS feels natural.
ADM has been my go to for all my Micros. I have five of them I think, never an issue. Tool-less tension adjustment, locking throw lever, and they don't mark up your received if that matters.
I played around with lower 1/3 for years and recently tried the 1.93 scalarworks mount and will never ever go back to lower 1/3. For my build, 1.93 is so much more natural and thus faster. Either way, I highly recommend scalarworks after using Larue, ADM, and Geissele in the past.

For what its worth (I'd like to see this convo keep going) I have a G Mount and a Scalar works Lower 1/3 OTW!!!!!

I've had all three and frankly cant go wrong with any of them. I currently favor Scalarworks though. lightweight, look cool, easy on and of.

Do you lose visibility of the irons through the FAST when you have a magnifier? You have to flip the magnifier up to use the irons and they’re nearly obscured, but you can still use them. Magnifier has a QD lever too, so if having to look under the magnifier is a problem, you can just pop it off. @mcbowflex |

Confused why anybody would still buy outdated Larue mounts with so many better options available.

I can’t think of any major improvements you’d be getting by switching to something more “modern.” Where that starts to change is with the 1.93” and taller mounts. |

QD - American Defense Manufacturing
Fixed - Daniel Defense Thank me later..... |
i am using reptilia on my scar 16 sbr, certainly helps with the charging handle. On one of ars i have scalarworks. I like them both equally.
I picked up a battle steel from Botach awhile back for $25 and I like it a lot.
I also prefer ADM > Larue and non-QD > QD |
I have stuck to Larue because they work. I have had every Larue T1 mount. They are all good.
I dont like ADM mounts or GGG mounts personally. I am really tempted to get a Scalarworks for the weight but have not owned one. |
Larue's work just fine. I find them more solid than ADM, but that's the great thing about choice
Which Scalarworks T2 height replaces the Larue LT660? ....I think it's time I switched over to Scalarworks!
I am by no means a Larue fanboy, but after trying many mounts I always go back to the Larue absolute cowitness mount. They just work. I also have had Geiselle and SLR mounts. I have had no issues with any of them.

LT660. QD and you can fit a spare battery in the cavity of the base.
Drop a battery into the corner of a sandwich bag. Cut the corner off with with extra and melt it shut with a lighter. |

I use LT660 whenever I need QD, which is rare anymore honestly, or Scalarworks LEAP when I don’t need QD, which is most of the time these days.
I know. I know. Scalarworks is marketed as QD... it’s not. It’s a fairly quick way to put on the mount without tools, and a somewhat quick way to take it back off again, but it’s not QD, not like the LT. But it’s lighter, and I don’t take my optics off anymore having multiple ARs. Just not a feature I need. They’re nice if you do though. |
I've been very happy with the LaRue mounts and I still have a few of them, but I just picked up one of the new Midwest Industries non-QD mounts for a setup where I didn't want/need QD and it looks solid. I haven't mounted it yet but I think I'll like it.
