I’d like a red dot but with a 300 yd max needed, and my eyes on their downhill side, I think LPVO is probably what I’ll wind up with. Makes more sense to me to have a 1-6 vs 1X or 3X only with a magnifier.

You can get the new Razor Gen 3 1-10x for $1900 from optics planet (with coupon code). That's a damn steal!

I'd say $1k rifle, spend the rest on the Razor.

Purchasing soon (mid March) wanted time to collect thoughts and opinions. As it stands now I’m going with the Larue UU kit and the Larue lower. For optics I’m leaning vortex viper PST1-6. Still open to hear other thoughts though.

Doesn't mean there aren't a million better options out there now. 6920 is fine and dandy but I'd rather spend that money on a psa lower and one of their FN barreled, geissele handguard 14.7" uppers.

Its your money... By all means, spend it anyway you like.

the beauty of America

Also, im a huge fan of a basic M4/6920 type rifle with a KAC ras, light, IR laser and aimpoint dot. Simple = good.

Very interesting thread. With little experience or knowledge, I`ve been looking at a second AR. I`ve pretty much boiled it down to a LaRue Predator 5.56 16" UU Kit with a LaRue billet lower or a DDm4 V7 SLW. From what I have found, the Larue option runs $1090 and the DD $1450 with the DD being a little over a half pound lighter. I like the lighter weight of the DD, but it`s not like I`m going to be carrying it for miles at a time, so I guess it isn`t a huge issue.

What it comes down to for me is reliability, accuracy and durabiltity, with customer service and warranty being thrown in for good measure. I`m pretty much ready to pull the trigger one way or the other. I`m probably leaning towards the LaRue, but I would be very interested in hearing the opinions of others.

Sounds like we’re in the same boat. I looked at the same options and a few others, Larue seems best bang for the buck.

with that budget i'd get a KAC SR-15 upper and a Radian or LMT lower.

11.5 with red dot or 14.5 with LVPO. SSP or SSA-E trigger.

Centurion Arms would be my choice.

I own BCM, LaRue, Sig, Colt, Noveske.... but my Centurion is my choice for my work gun.

12.5 Centurion

I have a LaRue UU built onto a PSA lower.  The quality, fit, and finish of the UU kit is superb; it's an absolute steal at $792.  It has been very reliable, durable, and accurate.  If someone is willing and able to build instead of buy, I always recommend the UU kit built onto the lower of their choice.

Wound up going the same route. LaRue UU on a Aero lower. With the complete upper + lower parts kit included it was just too good to pass up.

I vote KAC or Daniel Defense.

Buy a BCM, Spikes, DD, LMT, KAC, or a Midwest industries rifle. Buy an Aimpoint pro and a Surefire M600. Then buy 10 Pmags and 1k rounds of XM193 and have fun!

As a follow up, went with a Larue UU (5.56, 16” stealth barrel) and AERO lower. Still on the fence with optics but trying the swampfox. At the price (and warranty) it’s worth a shot. Only 200ish rounds thru but so far no complaints.

Nice setup!

Real question though is how much is left in the budget for people to throw more recommendations at? haha

In for the responses.  In a similar situation with the exact same budget.  Just bought a razor and mount though so I’m down to about $1,800

Larue Ultimate Upper, add the billet lower.  Then spend the balance of your budget on glass.

I just finished one of the Larue UU kits and it is by far an outstanding rifle for the $1020 I have invested.

Had the same budget and just pieced it together.  Wanted ambi features.  Went with a 14.5 ADM upper with Criterion barrel, ADM stripped lower with a geissele sde trigger and a5 buffer system.  Glass sitting on top is a razor 1-6 in a geissele mount.

KAC or scar. You’d have to buy scar used to stay in budget and still get it running how it was designed (Geissele trigger) but the KAC should rip right out of the box.

get both.

I run a Vortex PSt 1-6 and a Holosun 407.

Best of both worlds
