Clone (lower receiver anyway) of Colt 741?

Yea- I know it had a short lifespan and was not a real success as a SAW, but fun non-the-less to shoot.

Nothing special. Upper receiver is USGI surplus, CMMG CL barrel (actually 1 in 7 so NOT correct), older 6 hole carbine hard guard. Lower receiver is a Rock Island Armory /Sendra lower from the 1980s.

I just put together another Commando type A1 build today...

Just what I needed...

I couldn't turn the upper parts down - I got too good of a deal on it.

I got bored of putting together the same or similar stuff all the time - so here's my A1 dissipator in .450 Bushmaster.

Love that particular combination.
What scope is that?

[#17]
The SN 326 Delft scope was delivered to R.W. Mc Donald (the importer for Colt) in July 1960.

Awesome, thank you for that info. May I ask what the source of it is?

SoloDallas asked: "What scope is that?"

Scope is M16 Marksman Elite Model made in Japan. Good quality, but not 100 percent sure who made it. I read it was the same company that made them for the Colt scopes back in the 80s.

I just finished putting this one together. The only original A1 part on it is the A1 grip. Blemished Brownells upper and lower, Windham LPK, 20" Green Mountain 1 in 12" barrel (John at Reteo Arms Works installed the FSB for me. Great job and lightning fast turnaround. Thanks John!!), Fulton hand guards, Cav Manufacturing buttstock, Toolcraft BCG. and an old Rapidex windage knob I found in my spare parts bin, and other parts from Brownells, fulton and JSE. Not 100% true to the originals, but it doesn't have to be for me to be happy. Just waiting on the front sling swivel so I can strap on my OD web sling like I have on almost every other rifle I own.

This is awesome. I think I tagged you a while back when we had a previous discussion about the Rapidex knobs. In for two, and thanks for making these (and other retro items) available!

Must reiterate this.
For older farts like me whom are growing more and more into the older firearms, having parts that do the trick is the name of the game.
Also being a company owner I know how not easy it is to run things out there

thank you,

SD

My recently built .22lr that closely resembles a 723/IDF carbine.  I might tweak a few things at a later date but for now I'm happy with this.

Top one was a SP1 minus the lower receiver that I picked up on the equipment exchange MANY years ago. I put a NDS lower receiver on it early last year. Bottom started as a NOS surplus A1 upper without a BC assy or a charging handle. It did come with a NOS A1 buttstock and grip. I picked up a Colt FA BC assy on the equipment exchange to put in it. IIRC the upper came from CDNN way back when. I sent a RRA receiver and charging handle to Norrels and had them done in Colt gray.

I took a Brownells XM177E2 and threw a mid-length setup on it.  I proceeded to strip a ton of finish off because the color was too dark and I have an addiction to polishing metals.

I pretty much was trying to go for a beat up Colt 609-style, but mid-length.  Love the look of barrel ending just after the sight post.
I'm not done.  This will likely be an evolving project.    CAR-15 cheek piece, CAR-15 buttpad, Elbit Falcon MK I with ARMS mount on an ARMS #39, and a different flash hider were added.

25 round straight magazines from Brownells.

Sorry the photos are grainy.  I broke my camera recently.

I dunno how I feel about the finish. I may parkerize it or Cerakote it in Combat Grey or even do a forced patina.  I really can't decide.

Up to a year ago I had a Israeli Elbit Falcon gun sight  It no longer works, but still have it with the mount. Let me know you you ever need any parts for it. (give to you)
