For aftermarket triggers, my experience is limited. I need a trigger that is:
- fast - reliable - no sloppy pins - no light primer strikes I have a JP single stage trigger sitting in a lower but I haven’t had had a chance to spend much time with it. Before I talk myself into “settling” for this trigger because I have it on hand, what do the knuckle draggers recommend? |
|
What do you mean by fast? A binary trigger will help you get more shots off in a shorter time frame. However, I wonder if you are actually referring to a shorter pull.

Geissele S3G. Makes the bumpstock ban pointless.

If you’re desire is truly as simple as fast and reliable, the answer Geissele SD3G/S3G. Same trigger; with the only difference being a flat vs curved bow.
Now, if it’s going into a defensive or precision rifle you may want to think about other options. Of which Geissele has plenty. There are other mfgs worth looking into as well. I’m just partial to Geissele. They’re not cheap. But, if you can afford to be patient, they can be had for very reasonable prices. At this point, I’d hold off until the 4th of July and look at places like PSA, Primary Arms, etc. They usually have them in the 25% off range around the holidays. If you can’t wait, I believe Brownells has an exclusive version of the same trigger. I think the model is called BGRF. Something with “rapid fire” in the acronym. There are some cost-cutting measures. Still, while not 100% identical, for all intents and purposes it’s the same thing. You may be happy with what you’ve got. But you also won’t be disappointed with Geissele. |

Geissele/ Brownell BGRF - only available at Brownells, it's a cheaper version of the S3G Made exclusively for Brownells.

I personally have the Geissele S3G and SD3G in a few different rifles and have been very pleased with them. I have some trigger time as well with the CMC and Wilson Combat as well and wouldn't hesitate to consider those either. It's just that I've been using G triggers for so long that I have just stuck with what works for me.
Only other triggers I have are either standard Milspec or KAC 2 stage. All others are G's. |

Lots of good options. I have the JP in 2 of my rifles, and a Timney in an other one. No problems shooting Russian primers.

Geissele ssa e or the sd3g ive yet to find a better Ar trigger

Geissele SSA is pretty dam fast for me doing double and triple taps. Can't imagine wanting to try something faster.

View Quote For a non-drop in: B-GRF (Geissele Rapid Fire) sold through Brownells "The Geissele Rapid Fire Trigger (B-GRF) was developed to give semiautomatic-only rifles a glass-smooth trigger pull very similar to the Geissele Super Select Fire (SSF) trigger designed for the U.S. Special Operations Community . The B-GRF is a fast-shooting, smooth trigger ideal for 3 Gun competition and recreational shooting alike. It pulls like a single-stage, but resets like a two-stage. Two trigger springs are included so the B-GRF can be set up with a pull of either 4 lbs or 3.2 lbs. Does NOT convert semiautomatic rifles to automatic." |

Hiperfire. Both the Eclipse and the hyper touch 3gun triggers are fast.
Geissele SSA-E is fast too. Haven't tried their S3G. But I know if you don't have a good grip on the pistol grip with the hiperfire you'll brrt. |

Daring to be different...love my 1.5# Timney Calvin Elite View Quote Surprised that more folks don’t prefer single stage triggers for carbine work. As much as I love my Geissele and Larue triggers I just find they slow me down too much on red dot guns and carbines. |

I tried the 1005 Tactical Two Stage Trigger from at3tactical.com 'cause it was only $87. It worked surprisingly well. I don't have a pull guage, so I can't give you an exact weight, but it's listed at 4.5 pounds and it is much lighter than the factory trigger on my MCX. It ignited all of the Tul and Wolf ammo I threw at it with no light strikes. Has a good, positive reset and a clean break. It's worth considering.

That is a badass trigger no doubt. I have one in my Bergara custom bolt rifle. Surprised that more folks don’t prefer single stage triggers for carbine work. I have several models of Geissele triggers but the SSA-E equips most of my AR's.

I use Timney's 4.5lb. I didn't want a really light trigger. I'm pretty quick with these.

I like the Geissle SSA for a defensive rifle. Double and triple taps are a breeze.
If you want a lighter pull, get the SSA-E. Or the flat bow versions that have also been suggested The design and function is battle proven. |

I quite like the Geissele SD-E. It’s an SSA-E with a flat bow. The pull is very short and pretty light, with the flat bow making it feel slightly lighter than my dad’s SSA-E by a gnat’s ass.

I would say a G SD-E but before you drop the money on another trigger I would suggest you work with what you have first.
