Oldgraygeek:
I had a very positive experience with 80-lower.com.
It was just over two years ago. Winter/spring of 2016. Obama was the Prez, and most everybody expected Hillary to be the next President. 80-lower was swamped with orders.
Ordered an easy jig and three lowers, in case I messed up one. It was at at time when they were struggling to get in supply from their suppliers, and doing their best to ship on time, or close to it.
Shipment was delayed, but email communication was excellent.
I messed up the first one, but their jig messed up the second one. I sent good pics that showed the issue, and they sent me a new jig and another lower--no argument and no issues, at all. I showed them the problem, they agreed and made it right.
When a small company does that at a time when they are swamped with orders, struggling to manage their suppliers, and working lots of overtime to get out orders, I'm impressed.
So, i figured out a few things (use a GOOD drill press, but not necessarily a new one. A 1950's one for $50 from Craigslist might work just great.); use a shop vac to vacuum up the MILLIONS of aluminum shavings, . . . and otherwise follow their advice about the router, and taking your time, etc., and you should have a good experience. It IS a fun learning experience.
Since my experience, they have greatly improved those jigs, and I expect that with a good drill press and router, and patience and attention to detail, you will also have a good experience with those guys.
