Once I SBRd it and put the q shorty on it went to hell. Couldn't get the RB, Dairyland defense, or delta team to work. I've tried the heavy 9mm buffer from q it's like 8oz I think. But it's longer than the H1 the stock comes with. I tried adding weight to the H1 with molten lead inside. No go, all the way around.

I purchased the Arizona regulator just to see if it'd go. It's the three position. With the heavy 9mm buffer it'll burst off 5-6, but you have to finess the trigger. Like barely pull it. It always fails with a round in the chamber and a dead trigger.

I've read you can lock the bolt up with FRTs, pulling too hard. Not sure if the Arizona regulator is the same. But I by no means am pulling it too hard.

That's about all I got, my thoughts were maybe I need a heavier buffer spring, maybe the H1 is too light, and the 9mm buffer is too heavy and I need an in between, unfortunately Q doesn't offer one.

Thanks again for any help. It's a blast to shoot 5.7 forced reset, my daughter's love it. Suppressed , and zero recoil.

Pulling as hard as you can with no malfunctions was one of the marketing points JD stated was better about his design versus others.

I know. I read that. Which makes me wonder why it'll work barely pulling the trigger. It's possible I put the disconnect spring in upside down. Very possible, I was in a hurry. That's the first thing I'll look at. Not sure if that would cause what I have going on though. A guy a few posts back mentioned it.

Molten lead is a no go, the weights have to be free sliding to give it a Dead Blow effect. Unfortunately I can't help with your exact setup, but your problem sounds exactly like bolt bounce, which is exacerbated by a solid, non sliding buffer. Does the Q buffer, when you shake it, have weights sliding around?

The 9mm buffer does, the buffer supplied with the stock, I believe is just an H1, is the one I attempted to add weight to. I didn't know they had to slide. I'll put the weights back in it. The small lead ingot I made comes right out. I'll give that a shot. Thanks again

Edit.
I should add I can only get it to do the small bursts with the 9mm buffer. Is it possible that's too heavy for the small 5.7 round?

Holy crap, I'm all-in on the 3-position AZR.  The one in my AR9 (Glock) has been running great, and I dropped one into my Colt 635 clone and it runs like a sewing machine.  No mods (other than trimming the weight in the BCG).  They're currently OOS, but as soon as they're in, I'm popping for a bunch more.  $300 for a drop-in FRT?  No-brainer.

My 3 position AZR came in the mail yesterday. I was impressed with what came in the kit.
Trigger, hammer, disconnector, pins for both, all 3 springs, 3 position safety, and the AZR.

I dropped everything into this PSA A4 (standard PSA rifle buffer) and it worked perfectly!

It joins these other 2 AR's of mine with Super Safeties (Grey Market and AS Designs).

I think I will pickup a 9mm AR that takes Glock mags and swap the AZR 3 position to it someday.

Running one in my POF P415 (three position) and it works perfectly.  The two position would not work with the Geissele trigger despite it being identical to the setup in another lower where the two position didi work.  The spec must have been ever so slightly off for whatever reason.  But the 3-position runs like a top.

The AR 3-position started out super gritty but has since smoothed out.  Still has as much travel as a two stage.  In semi, there's a definite physical wall you can feel (and hear) but in super semi, much less so and feels close to the Rare Breed, which is to say no feel.

Have a Broad River 9mm SD setup with delayed BCG, testing the Atrius out with that setup today.  It passed the function test, Delton mil-spec trigger I had lying around in an ADM lower.  Doesn't seem to have the issues Chris pointed out on YT.

I have a two position in my 9mm AR-V that's running great.
PSA AR-V with Arizona Regulator

I have a two position in my former BumpSAW that is running great.
The BumpSAW has been Regulated!

My three position had some ejection issues. It is in a heavily used SBR with thousands of rounds down range, so I figured the ejector spring is getting worn out. I swapped BCG's and solved the ejection, but then had a timing or bolt bounce issue. So I need another range trip to see if I've got it fixed.

Actually, it's a gas deflector Colt devised for the 635. Note how the ejection port cover is cut down.  I have it because I'm a slave to shit like that.

My AR9G (my personal nomenclature, because I also have an AR9C - for Colt) is a New Frontier Armory Glock-compatible lower with a slick-side (no FA) upper and a 10" barrel.  The muzzle device is a Rearden R2S Plan-B compatible flash hider, so I can just screw the can right on.

BTW, here's a discussion of gas deflectors for lefties.

I can tell you a milspec lower with a MBT trigger works perfectly with a 2 pos.

A5 buffer tube, A5 H3 buffer and a Bkitzkrieg buffer spacer.
green spring
Oh and a beat to hell Mean arms adapter mag that is still running 100% after thousands of rounds.

Rest of spec:
Gibbz side charging upper.
8" BA barrel.
YHM bolt modified forAZR clearance.
Huxwrx Cash9.

Used Wolf steel 115g
Blazer brass 124g
147g RN/ 3.5g N320

eta.
I did get some dead trigger events running the 115g wolf steel at first.  I put the can on and had zero issues after.
At the end I took off the can and ran about 50 of the 124g Blazer brass with zero failures.
Rate of fire seemed much slower than the super safe AP5 I shot recently as well.

But what I noticed is slower rate of fire causes a push pull effect on you as you hold target.
With the higher rate of the AP5, the recoil was more steady.
BUT the AP5 also has lower recoil.

Anybody get the 3 pos running well with 300 blackout?

I have 2 running perfectly. 1 in a POF P415 running perfectly with kac HH or RB5000HP with multiple cans. The other is in a LMT shovelnose with a RB5000 or H2 with multiple cans. 0 issues in either.

I tried putting it in a sugar weasel with a HBPDW stock and I can't get more than a single round off before a dead trigger. Function checks perfectly, 3rd position the hammer drops just as the bolt is going into battery. It's behaving like there is hammer follow or bolt bounce but it's 300blk subsonic and the HBPDW spring isn't very strong, I doubt there's much bounce.  It's running the 3.2oz buffer (yes, with sliding weights).

What really confuses me is this exact setup ran perfectly with an atrius selector, which has horrible timing and drops the hammer very early/out of battery. I assumed the 3 position regulator would automatically be much more reliable since it's timed closer to a machine gun.

For the H&R retro guys, it would be cool if JD would make a version of this that drops in like a DIAS so that it would work with out of spec upper pockets. Seems like that would be an easy modification.

Mid post I did say everything function checks perfectly and the hammer drops right as the bolt goes into battery in the 3rd position though...

Yeah, that's more applicable to the carrier bounce seen in mil spec overgassed platforms. My more gently gassed guns run great with H1-H2 full auto and with the 3 pos AZR. 300blk subs won't run with an H3 unless you have a super high backpressure can.

I'll work on it.

I'll try out a 300 Blackout upper with my 3 position AZR today. I can't imagine it not running. I've had that upper running with a Hoffman Super Safety, and a Rare Breed FRT-15L3. The Hoffman had a standard buffer, if memory serves, but I'll post up all the specs after I shoot it.

There's a big difference between a 5oz buffer in a milspec mid to rifle length gas 556 and a subsonic pistol gas 8" 300blk.

A 5oz buffer is not the solution.

Yeah, I was surprised. I haven't tried this one with a regular super safety, just the atrius.

The only reason I can come up with is that the atrius releasing the hammer so much sooner than the azr allows the hammer drop to combat some bolt bounce or slow chambering that i didn't know was happening. I'll try it with a cqb h2 and different spring.

My 300 Blackout upper ran wonderfully with my 3 position AZR. It's a 9 inch barrel, with a Silencerco Evo Harvester, and a Riflespeed gas block to tune between subsonics and supersonics. H2 buffer, AZR 3 position in the lower.

" />

I ran 20 subsonics and then 20 supersonics. The subsonics had an astonishingly low rate of fire. I didn't measure it, but it felt like those old videos of WW2 grease guns, probably south of 450 RPM. The supers were a much more normal rate, in the 600-700 range.

Based on my reading I should put an H3 buffer in to prevent bolt bounce.

I'd be interested in hearing your results. I rarely mess with springs. Are you mainly after sound reduction?

The H3 buffer has been a 100% solution to FRTs for me in curing the dead trigger, at least on rifle calibers, in probably 12 different upper configurations? Not counting 22 and 9mm builds, which are a separate animal.

I really, really wish the industry had given us steel cased subsonics about 15 years ago. The bullet price should be in line with 230 grain .452 bullets, and the casings should be in line with 7.62x39 steel case. Add a bit of a premium for the more limited production runs. Should have been about the same price as Wolf steel cased 6.5 Grendel circa 2015, in the 35 cent range.
