| At this point, with all the hoopla with RB, the FRS's seeming to be a little fiddly, now this with AZ, I'm just going to wait things out for a while. I'll just stick with my binary and keep reading the forum and see reviews and any new industry players that pop up. Maybe something solid without a lot of drama around it will come along. |

From what I have gathered, if installed correctly and you follow the manufacturer’s instructions there is no issue, it is a FRT. If you don’t install it correctly and don’t follow the manufacturer’s instructions, it MAY be considered not a FRT. Either way, if you modify any trigger from any manufacturer to do what has been brought up, it may be considered to be an illegal modification by the folks that called a shoe lace a machine gun. |

So I just recently purchased one, the 2-position AZR-15M2. The site said drop in and go if you have a lower with a Mil Spec trigger. I put it in a PSA pistol, which I checked uses a Mil Spec trigger setup. So I took my weapon to the range, and dropped it in. Well, it was a very tight fit in the upper well. I closed it up, and it shot a 6-round burst, and then trigger locked, it would not reset. So I cleared weapon, reset the trigger, reloaded, one round, and lockup. I went to the website, and looked at all the information, but there was nothing on the discussion as to the why. So I called the tech line number, and the owner answered. I began to explain to him the issue, and he interrupted me, and must have a list in order of questions he asked. So, I am not an AR Armorer, so some of the questions I did not know. So after the fifth question, we started having some discussion, and he told me my disconnector was probably not mil spec, and I needed to put the disconnector in that came with the AZR-15M2. So I went home, followed the advice, and did so. The disconnector that he sent me was maybe a 3-4 mm longer on the end going back towards the safety, but other than that, seemed identical to the PSA disconnector. So mil spec. I went back to the range today, and it ran through half a mag, and locked up again. Now, when I took it completely out, I ran the weapon, and it fired correctly, but when I did a function check on the weapon, and held the trigger back and cycled, the disconnector was hanging on the hammer, and was not resetting unless I pushed it gently, and it clicked into the reset position. So now I am pissed, this never happened before, and this is a fairly new weapon. So I went over to my DPS Armory, and they tore it down and checked it. It looks like there was now some rough edges on the hammer where the disconnector engages when holding the trigger back. So we went and put a new trigger, disconnector and hammer in the weapon, all mil spec, to get the weapon back to function correctly. And it was fixed. So I took the gun back out to the range, ran 3/4 of a mag through it, doing bursts and single shot, and then it locked up again. So at this point I am a little pissed off. So much for drop in. I ordered two new CMMG mil spec disconnectors, which should arrive this week. I am going to try using the other disconnector. So has anyone encountered this issue? I have not done any mods to the AZR-15M2. Should I shave the leg down as shown in the Mod 1 configuration? Seems like I should not be having this much trouble. When doing a function check on the weapon with it installed, and I pull back on the charging handle, I get some resistance about 1/2 way back. I do not get this resistance when not installed. I watched all of the videos on the website, and he shows filing the leg for the Mod 1, but says that is not necessary for Mod 2. But i am not sure if that is the case. |

I think it's a horrible design that opens up FRTs to attack because the ATF tech branch is known to lie to make a case in court. There is a long line of such cases. In a world were we have multiple other designs that don't make the mistakes of the AZ Regulator, why would anyone encourage someone to buy THIS product? |

It's an FRT, but if you have the 3 position and purposely mis-assemble it by using his FCG without installing the regulator, and fire it in the third position you will have hammer follow. Most of the time this will result in a dead trigger. If you have Chinese ammo or reloaded ammo with Federal primers meant for a bolt action, it might fire occasionally as full auto. If it is assemble properly with all the parts there is no issue. |

This old thread has a lot of good info. https://www.ar15.com/forums/general/The-legality-of-an-M16-part-in-your-AR-the-short-version-/6-739614/ |

So, possession and installation of M16 parts is not illegal (just not advised). It is illegal to assemble them for purposes of making it full auto, or as the link to the other thread says, collecting enough parts to make a full auto since the lowers and the carriers are already being made to M16 specs. So, realistically, in the scheme of things, this is not an issue with the AZR so long as you follow the directions, if I am reading and understanding all of this correctly. You don't need an AZR to improperly assemble one and make it go bangitty banggitty bang. Doing so is your own fault (unless that's your intention to begin with). Kind of disheartening to see the above post concerning issues with the AZR. Honestly, I think that's the first one I've seen. Seems most people who have them aren't having any issues. |

I think the term "Mil Spec" is wildly used and is not always true. It may not be your trigger setup and could be your lower or upper etc... that might not be in spec. In semi auto these out of spec parts don't show issues but trying to use an FRT brings it out. When I got my MBT AZR I found that I had 1 lower that was not "Mil Spec" after swapping triggers and uppers around between lowers to confirm. That lower is 100% in Semi. FYI my lower that was out of spec is the same make as yours. It does function 100% with the AZR but it just has a heavier trigger pull and has zero over travel so it was not too out of spec. |

Kind of disheartening to see the above post concerning issues with the AZR. Honestly, I think that's the first one I've seen. Seems most people who have them aren't having any issues. That thread isn't particularly relevant and isn't even a good thread. Unless you own a non-registered lower with a third hole, which is already a felony in itself, there's no way that you can "accumulate enough parts to enable full auto in [your] AR". If you use the wrong type of disconnector, you'll get hammer follow but that's a separate concern, and doesn't mean that it's a bad idea to use an M16 trigger, hammer or selector. As I've said in other threads, using M16 FCG parts isn't the potential problem here. And I still think that the 3 position regulator is perfectly legal, just with some downsides. |

From what I have been able to gather, here is the possible issue: If you install all the parts from the AZR 3 position kit, it is a FRT, so not really issue there (for now). Now if you remove the "drop in" part of the AZR, you are left with a standard semi auto trigger pull. The issue, is when you remove the drop in part, and then rotate the selector to the 3rd position, you disable the disconnector. This will allow hammer follow. From what I have been able to find, the ATF may use that as justification that you are trying to build a illegal MG. Also, from what I have been able to gather, the ATF will go out of their way, to the point of being borderline illegal to try and prove their point you are trying to make a MG, and if they can get it to double just one time, even by accident, by manipulating the ammo and your parts, then that is all they need to put you in the slammer. I think to fix the issue, there needs to be a way to make it to where the drop in part of the AZR is connected to the trigger pins, safety, or some other way to where it can not be removed without removing other trigger parts. Kida making it a "drop in" cassette type trigger. However doing that may draw the attention of another C&D happy company. Now do I think they are about to start knocking on doors? At this time I do not think so, but things can change really quick. |

Maybe make something similar to that 1441 fart, but have the "cage" be retained by either a trigger pin or the safety lever. However while that could possibly fix the current issue with the system, I feel like a C&D letter is only inevitable. If they are going after SS's, then they they will go after anything forced reset. I figure either he has flown under their radar so far, or they are working on the letter. But it also brings up the question about the 1441 fart. It is 3 position, and the unit is drop in, but not a cassette. So what happens when in the 3rd position with the drop in part removed? |

Are you using a h3 buffer with weights that rattle? Also check to see if thr hammer is contacting thr azr. Some have had to sand a little off thr hammer at thr point it makes contact with thr azr. None of these forced reset are truely drop in. All of them will require you to make adjustments to your gun. Such as buffer or buffer spring etc. at least thats what ive seen reported all over from all types of these frt triggers. He explains all that on his website in the instructions. |

Other than that these triggers all function similarly. The difference is tbr azr 3 pos parts can be taken out and some left and that can cause an issue that has been prosecuted in the past. However. They have prosecuted over triggers in semi auto guns that while wore out functioned as full auto in spurts. So your gun still in factory form but youve shot it a lot and now it slips off thr seer. Same damn thing. Its about finction always has been. The azr when installed how jd intends is just as legal as the rest. |

That's how I see it. It's up to the owner to ensure it's installed properly and working properly...just like a worn sear...if your gun double taps or goes full auto when it shouldn't, it's your responsibility to fix it (or get it fixed). My-son-in-law got into AR's because of me and he built his first lower and bought an upper for it. Brought it with him when he and daughter came for a visit. Went to range, first mag in and....the surprised look on his face when it proceeded to do 2-3 shot bursts. He bent the disco somehow when he installed everything. I bent it back with some pliers, reinstalled and it functioned fine for the rest of the day, but I did put a new one in it for him before he left and made sure all was working as it should. Now, question is, if an ATF guy had been there at the range...would he have hauled off my SIL or his rifle, or would explaining the situation and doing the repair on-site been enough to assuage him? Who knows. |

The hammer contacting the AZR? At no point does that happen. The hammer contacts the disconnector, is that what you mean? I am using the drop in, not the three position. You'll likely not get any troubleshooting help on here from the owner as it seems he's written off ARF over the issue during the past week. Your best bet if you want his input is to call him. I had the drop in M2 version as well. Mine would not work at all with my lower. The leg on the AZ Reg was too short for my lower as it was not preventing the hammer to fall early. All I was told in troubleshooting is my lower must not be milspec. Oh well, so I gave it to my friend as I was tired of messing with it. Seemed to function by hand fine in my friends AR. First magazine fired no problem, but had the same issue as you with firing a couple rounds, then would not fire with the next magazine. He was running 16" and H3 buffer. Seemed like bolt bounce or hammer follow due to the round showing a light primer indent, but IDK. He was running the H3 buffer already and doesn't really want to shell out more for an H4 buffer that may or may not work. |

So what's the deal with the 3-pos ones now? There was a ton of interest and a lot of members purchased them before this fiasco. Seems to be a dumpster fire and this current thread is the only active one on the subject since this thread in GD is now locked. https://www.ar15.com/forums/General/Just-leaving-this-here-ETA-Ben-is-back-/5-2811147/?page=1 |

It's where the main discussion is. |

I remember when people were scared shitless for just having an "M16 bolt carrier.". Now we're arguing over disconnectors.
