I want to get the bits gathered for an A5 buffer set up. I'd like to drop the ROF on that same 16" setup if I can. I think the longer stroke coupled with a heavier A5 buffer will do this...

I think my suppressed 10.5 is about 900-1100 RPM lol. It sounds like a MG42.

Took my 2 rifles out today.  1st one is a 10.5 with the h3 bugger and has the 3 pos trigger.  Put 200 rounds through it and it ran great.  Was able to do 3 round bursts pretty consistent.  I will say trying to do semi only in the 3rd position is tough.  Mostly cause it wants to go into frt mode.

My 2nd rifle i was having a few issues with but im thinking it was cause it was alittle dry and the 1st few tries i forgot it still had a H1 buffer in it .  Its a 11.5 upper and had the drop in frt (mil spec).  It did "ok" starting out as far as frt mode.  I could do a few bursts but when I let go of the trigger, it would give me a dead trigger (but load a round).  Then I noticed it was a MUCH high rof than my 10.5.  That's when I remembered about the h1 still in it.  I swapped it and while it felt better, I had the same issue.  Few bursts, let go of trigger, dead trigger.  Then I noticed that if I "slap" the trigger so it just shoots once, everything would cycle but then id have to push the trigger forward to rest it.  It would fire again, but again I had to push the trigger forward to rest it.

I separated the halves and double checked the trigger springs were installed right (they were). I went though another 20-30 rounds with it trying different things.  Bursts worked fine but semi I would either get a dead trigger or have to push it forward.

When you say you checked the trigger springs...you did check that the hammer spring was correct at the same time right?

If the disco is not releasing the hammer when the trigger is released in semi and you're certain is not a spring installed incorrectly,  it's most likely a burr/sharp edge on either on the hammer hook, disco or both causing the hangup. You can clean up the engagement surfaces with some 600 grit sand paper or fine stone. You do not want to remove material or change angles, just lightly polish the engagement surfaces until they stop hanging up.

Another way is just remove the upper and hold the trigger back and keep cocking/releasing the hammer via the disco until the hammer stops hanging up. Do NOT let the hammer fall on the receiver if you go this route! Also, a little flitz or even fine valve lapping compound on the engagement surfaces will speed up the process.

I just saw a post that concerned me a little - can anyone confirm a AZR 3P will work fine with any milspec 3 position selector, like a Colt ambi?  That the AZR selector isn’t required?

I’m almost certain I read on the AZR website that the 3 position is compatible with any full auto selector.

For anyone who might be interested, JD posted a note on his webpage about an event this afternoon:

***  NEXT AZR-15A1 3 POSITION DROP  ***  FRI 10-17 4PM TO 7PM AZ TIME  ***

I wonder if his site will crash from traffic as it did last Sunday.

ETA: While at JD’s website, I noticed yesterday that the AZR-15M2-R trigger, the **REDACTED** trigger, is still listed for $238.00, but the little window next to it with the notice “TEMPORARILY NOT ON HAND – MORE IN PROCESS – CHECK BACK IN A FEW DAYS” is missing.

All other models have that announcement, indicating that we can expect them back on the market at some time. No so, however, the **REDACTED** trigger. Things that make you go, hmmmm.

My 3p AZR with zero shots showing the slightest contact after function checking the rifle for 5 minutes.

I think the flat edge of the hammer on some upper/lower combos can strike the AZR body in two locations. The higher wear mark doesn't affect any moving parts and will self clearance.

The lower wear mark (if any) could appear as an impact. My hunch is the direction of this potential impact (green circle), if forceful enough, could activate the FRT lever before the bolt carrier impacts the trip lever (green line).

In semi-auto the disconnector should catch the hammer. If early FRT activation is happening via the hammer's tail, the early reset could throw the timing off enough to drop the rear of the trigger/disconnector assembly (and disco hook) out of the hammer's reach at the worst possible instant, causing hammer follow and a dead trigger.

It's happening intermittently because that's a whole lot of 'ifs'.

Possible solution: Stone that peak off the hammer's tail.

I refreshed JD's site just before I posted that. I saw that they were for sale and put one in my basket. I  then came here to let everyone know that they were available.

I then returned to JD's site, to see that the sale had closed out.

Yeah, I bet. The AZR in my MK18 was like a MG42 and got tons of laughs at the range.

I'm hoping mine is good-to-go in my M16A4 clone since it has the same PSA receivers you do. I acquired a used RB from a buddy to use in the MK18 and it's nice there, but not as fast cycling.

Shooting with my 3pos AZR just now it works in my 10.5 PSA upper with a H2 buffer but not in my 16" LW barrel profile PSA upper.
Tried 3 different buffer weights in the 16" LW upper H1, H2, and H3. Getting ejection, dead trigger, light primer strike with all buffer 3 buffer weights in AZR mode.

Add me to the peening list.

My Active Safety Designs & Grey Market Research Super Safeties run perfectly are 100% reliable using the same uppers with H1/H2 buffers.

AZR 3pos doesn't work with this upper no matter the buffer weight.

AZR 3pos does work with this upper w/ H1 & H2 buffers. But this is my favorite upper at the moment and I'm keeping a Super Safety lower on it.

AZR 3pos does work in this PSA A4 rifle with rifle buffer.

As of right now, the AZR 3 position FRT has not earned my trust.

I might pull it and try it in a 3rd lower or put it back into the PSA A4.

They'll work in any milspec upper/lower setup. The key is milspec.

Also, some cases of tolerance stacking may cause excessive wear or in the case of a few of us, FRT in SEMI.

I miss JD, but not this specific assertion.  Although, the statement is likely accurate - it is simultaneously meaningless.

Quickly, a manufacturer can build to a spec.  But what they built is NOT milspec before a Military Inspector has certified the military spec was achieved.

I am a fan of JD and his regulators.  But I will admit that I have exactly 2 (so, less than half) uppers (possibly 3 'cause I've never tried on the can launcher) that accept the regulator in the pocket.

I expect my budget driven selection impacts this result.  I'd bet uppers rated/designed to brrt are much more likely to build to the spec properly.  But a manufacturer claiming 'milspec' is pandering to an audience that thinks milspec means something magical.  JD does not help us understand what Milspec actually means.  But I imagine it does work in actual certified milspec M4s.

My take on the regulators - priced fairly, genius design, and worth trying.  Heck, they are worth building or buying around.

So, I posted this for the folks facing issues chasing milspecs and scratching their heads.  Milspec is a common but meaningless claim.  Until it has been Inspected, it is NOT Milspec; manufacturers are doing marketing things.

I will suggest JD is more than capable of identifying the spec deficiency and the potential solutions - reach out to him

In the case of JD's reference to milspec, he's referring (abeit vaguely) to TDP dimensions. It's also a cop-out for him if things aren't quite working right, IMO.

I have to disagree, just my opinion. While I’m not sure how close he keeps his product to specific dimensions that are within tolerances that work with Mil-Spec Technical Data Packet dimensions, I do know that he has no control over dimensions of the product that end-users install his product in. I have read that sometimes slight modifications are needed for clearance.

I can see where you're coming from, 'cause I know where you've been and I can see where you're going 'cause I can see the direction you're headed in. I just don't know where the hell you're at right now.

The LMT MRP 10.5 got a few upgrades BA 3pos ambi and AZR 3pos so far everything function tests fine. Going to hopefully test out this weekend runs great with the Armaspec silent buffer unsuppressed/suppressed so hopefully I won’t need to grab another h3 buffer to go back to original spring.

Do post back if your 3P functions with the SRS. So far only one person that I know of got theirs to function. I tried SRS in H3,H2 flavors and got an occasional 2-4rd string but mostly dead trigger.

I've also used SRS successfully on several builds suppressed and unsuppresed. The only SRS that will brrrt for me is carbine in my CMMG 5.7x28 RDB...

It's happening intermittently because that's a whole lot of 'ifs'.

Possible solution: Stone that peak off the hammer's tail.

If I'm understanding correctly (and assuming all other "ifs" line up), contact could happen even during normal semi-auto fire, correct?

Will do, hoping to run it this weekend. That’s why I’m hoping it will work as I had seen his post of it working.
Tomorrow’s my birthday so family will all be out here. I don’t know how much brrt I’ll get to do as my ammo fund took a huge hit and I had to order parts to fix my diesel truck today.

My 10.5" piston gun (Superlative Arms) runs great with an SRS.  Actually runs best with it; better than with a "standard" style buffer.  I have an older SRS-1 marked buffer.

It really screams.  I think I get a rate of fire approaching $250/minute...
