Put a new upper together today and stuck the borescope down to line up the gas block.  Never seen a barrel that looks like this.  Thoughts?

Chrome plate over pitting?

I bet that thing is gonna catch copper and carbon like crazy.

Reason #10,000 to never scope a bore.

That almost looks like it was full of tiny bubbles when they plated it.

Almost like there was rust pitting on the barrel before chroming and it was ''cleaned up'' and chromed.

Something went wrong during the electro polishing stage prior to chroming.

Ok thanks I didn’t think it looked good.  I’ll contact the Mfgr and see what they say before calling them out.  Things slip by, but if the blow it off or don’t make it right I’ll let y’all know

I can almost guarantee that if all of us on ARFCOM had borescpoes, at least 1/6of our rifles would have some type of fuckery that slipped pass QA

Pitting or poor gas escapement are likely the issue/s.

Hard to tell from pics if if concave/convex in profile.
