Not a home setup, just something that gets you 95% there, and is small and inexpensive.

I'm thinking a Boresnake or Otis cord & patches, lube/protectant, brush, and small bolt scraper tool.

suggestions are apprecated

I have a few USGI kits stashed for this reason.

Kleen-Bore makes a USGI style kit in several varieties.

I keep the sectional rods for bore obstruction more so than cleaning.

Otis has a variety of kits and options to pick from.

For deer camp I got a plano shotgun shell box. Added a usgi kit, an Otis kit, and a 4oz bottle of CLP, and a 4oz bottle of lube.
Packs "small" in the truck.

I put my own together,  boresnake, small bottles of bore cleaner and lube oil, some patches, brush, some tools, break down aluminum cleaning rod and all in one of those nylon zipper tool bags you can get at Home Depot.

This will cover almost all issues you may have and if it is worst, will take care of it at home.  When traveling a for a long session, will bring my bench tool kit that has just about everything.

Pro Shot, Otis and Patch Worm have all worked well for me.  I would say the Patch Worm is my favorite as it is very simple and compact.  They will eventually break but can be fixed with a lighter.

Works better if it's in stock...

Cut up t shirt, bottle of CLP and a boresnake. Same thing I use at home.

For me, "field kit" is synonymous with USGI. Works well and ez to stow.
