I am building my 1 st blackout that is based on a ar platform.

I want a high quality barrel that is accurate with an adjustable gas block. There are so many options out there it boggles the mind.

Any opinions would be appreciated. It will be on an SBR.

The only one that has caught my attention right now is a 10 inch ballistic advantage barrel that comes with the superlative ares gas block with the bleed off valve. It sounds great but you know how people like to market their product.

It will be used for subs and supers.

Thanks for any ideas.

A Criterion Hybrid would by my first pick. They come in 8.5 and 10.5, hand lapped, great quality barrels and still under $300. BA and Faxon make great barrels, all of the ones I have/had will shoot under 1.5 moa @ 100yds but I would rate them mid-shelf not high quality.

I have stainless Odin Works 10.5" that's been a champ.  I think I paid a hair over $200 for it.  It's seen no factory loads, so I can't comment on that.  But, I do have 2 loads that I've worked up for it using Sierra Varminter 110gr and Hornady VMax 110gr that shoot sub moa.  I also have several subsonic loadings that shoot well (but nowhere near that accuracy).  At roughly 3k rounds, it still shreds cans and water bottles at 100yds.

Edit: just checked, and they come with a gas block now for $250

I've eyeballed that one.  Do you have it?  There was one on the EE I almost picked up.    I really wish it had a salt bath finish.  I'm now looking at Faxon that is both 416 steel with a melonite finish.

I really like my Daniel Defense 10.3" barrel. My 8" BA barrel is pretty decent as well.

High heat Krylon is your friend. Wilson Combat will also apply Amor-Tuff to your barrel.  https://shopwilsoncombat.com/Armor-Tuff-Applied-to-AR-Barrel/productinfo/AT-BLGU/

My 'Subs Only' BA 10.3" DRP Barrel, prints S&B 200's into one ragged hole at 25. Yes that's close, but they're Subs with an ACSS reticle, so that range works with the BDC.

You can spend more but every BA barrel I have has met their claim of MOA accuracy with quality ammunition.

Ballistic advantage has a 1 MOA guarantee should be good enough for a short 300 blackout.
