I think the Delta Hornet qualifies, I’ve heard great things about the Strykers as well, but they’re largely unknown outside of places like this. What other LPVOs don’t get the love they deserve? |

Loved it but decided LPVO not for me, at least given how I train (or how little) these days. |

Finally got my Steiner T6Xi 1-6. Very few reviews and not mentioned much here. Even Superset and C-Does do not have reviews on them. Probably because they are often list over $1500 bucks but I see them around $1200 often I got mine for $1008 new It was as good as I hoped. Amazing glass and I like the 1x reticle and the 6x works great too Anyone know how to contact someone like C-Does? I would send it to him if he wants to review it. I am sure they could alway use more content |

Bushnell (LOW) made some really good optics back some years ago. The LRTS and LRHS scopes are great as well. |

I'm still shooting my Burris MTAC with the AR ballistic drop reticle ( not the CQB dots ). It's been a fantastic scope for me. I bought it probably 15 years ago. I sold it to my neighbor when I changed to a red dot, but when I realized my eyes were worse than the normal bad eyesight I was used to, I bought it back from it. So he got a few good years out of it. The MTAC was the predecessor of the RT series. It had the exact glass and treatments as the XTR III series, which helped keep the XTR III prices down, and put the MTAC in a higher class than it was priced at. I'm not sure if the RT-6 uses the same glass or not, but I've heard it was way better than the price suggests, so it may. The old MTAC works great, still tracks great. I shot a square ( turret edge to edge test ) when I bought it and it was spot on. I did it again a couple of years ago, and it still was exactly the same. The one thing I like about above most other scopes, is the way the brightness turret is set up. You have 0-1-0-2-0-3-0-4-0-5-0-6-0-7-0-8-0-9-0-10 markings, so, you have an off position between each increase in brightness. So, let's say you use position 9. In most scopes where you have to go back to zero to turn it off, you have to go through 9 clicks to get to your brightness setting, and then to turn it off, you have to go back through 9 clicks to turn it off. Every time, you have to do that. That can be a problem under stress. With the Burris, if you use position 9, you only move the turret one click either direction to turn it off. To turn it back on to the 9th position, again, only one click is needed. Now where it really gets good, is under stress. Under stress, you ,may move it more than one click, but you're only one click away from 9. You can turn it one more click and it's in either position 8 or position 10, both usable since your primary choice was 9. Of course that works the same whatever your normal position is. At night I use 4, but if I'm one off either way, it's still good. I don't know if the RT-6 is set up like that or not, but if it is, it's great. |

| Trijicon credo 1-6 sfp red bdc. Nobody ever care about it because it’s sfp and people seem to only care about sfp 1-6 if it’s the razor 1-6 or the primary arms slx nova. The credo has a better reticle and is plenty bright but way lighter and more affordable than a razor with the same quality glass. |

First, I think an LPVO is less scope than an 18” deserves—more like 2-10, 2-12, 3-15, etc. And those would better for hunting anyway. But besides that, $600 is a good price bracket. It will come down to what you prioritize, close range speed, more distance type precision, or a mix of both. For close range speed, the Viper 1-6 and Primary Arms Nova 1-6 are great options. For more precision, the Athlon Ares 1-10 is just over your $600 budget (generally for precision work you’d want an FFP reticle and good glass, not the easiest to find in this price bracket). For a mix of both, you have various Strike Eagle 1-6/8s, this Delta Hornet, the Primary Arms ACSS 1-6s, the Burris RT6 mentioned here, and a few more. |

I had looked at a couple of them but was unsure of the quality, reticle, glass, brightness and so forth. The $600 figure is not hard and fast. I can go over that if I then save awhile to get the second scope. And, I forgot that I am building a 13.7" at the moment that would also be a good host for an LPVO. Thanks again. I'll monitor this thread to see if anything else materializes and come back to refresh my memory. ETA: I was trying to not type out too much info, so, I didn't spell out why I am thinking of 18" ARs with LPVOs. I have a number of ARs - almost always multiples of each barrel length - in 10.5", 11.5", 12.5", 13.7", 16", more than a handful of 20" ARs, and my favorite coyote rifle from a blind: a 24" AR. I watched that video. I really appreciate the discussion of the reticles. I am old-school simple. My favorite elk rifle is topped with a Kahles 1.1 x 4 with a German reticle. I have heart-punched elk with it out to 260 yards. And that with 300 grain Nosler Partitions . This may also explain why I gravitate toward LPVOs. |

I just read up some on the Burris RT-6. It is a slightly updated version of the M-TAC. It has the same reticle, same glass, and the same brightness controls. The biggest difference I can find, is that it has a built in lever / ridge, for changing the power, where the M-TAC didn't. That's good for me, because I've never used an optic this good at this price range. I've used two of the Strike Eagles, and they were pitiful. They were fair in the daytime, but at night you couldn't see anything. I had to use a weapon light. Let me preface that with, there is a small amount of light outside, two lights on power poles. The eyebox was very short as well, where it's not on the Burris. I can hold my head in almost the same spot as I would for a red dot with the Burris, but with the Strike Eagle, I had to get really close. Now, I'm not going to compare it to glass costing a thousand dollars, but up to about $750, it's close, just the coatings on the glass will be better / color, and maybe clarity on some of them. I'm not a scope snob by any means, obviously by my choice of scope, but I have owned scopes in the $1500-$2500 range in the early to mid 2000-2015 era, so I have had experience with them. The other thing, is they were for longer range shooting. I had a lot more disposable income then too. The only thing I would want, that this scope doesn't have, is a FFP set up. I know it's not really needed, and a lot of folks don't want a FFP in a 1x4 or 1x6. A 1x8 for me would have to be FFP. I had a FFP 1x4 many years ago, and while it wasn't a real high end scope, I liked it. |

I like my primary arms special purchase 1-6. They are in and out of stock sometimes on sale for less than 300$. Philippine made For not Chinese, I dig it. I don’t have any nice scopes to compare it to, but shooting steel at 600 with a pencil barrel ar was like having an easy button. Blems are 340$ right now. |

This was really good when it debuted....roughly 10 years ago (don't quote me on that timeframe). Anyway, looks like they've dropped the price over the years. For 3-gun competition this was a great option if you didn't want to spend Nightforce, Kahles, or Swarovski money... I think it still has value today for someone looking at a simple option with good glass and build quality. They had a few sponsored shooters as well who gave discount codes out frequently. I think I used one from Jesse Tischauser (sp?)...now that makes me wonder whatever happened to that guy. He was a character. C-more C3 |
