I bought a couple of these as a hunting optic. Good build quality, light weight, good glass, excellent reticle and priced right. At least a 1/2 a step up from the Chinese made Nova. When compared to the heavier "slept around" Viper PST 2 1-6, the Special Purchase has less field of view and a tighter 6x eye box. Both have very good illumination. |

I agree - the glass is incredible. The illumination does leave a lot to be desired and is really the only negative other than it no longer being in production. I will say the horseshoe around the dot does a great job of drawing your eye in. |

Have a razor 1-6 as well and it's interesting that I'm not the only one that thinks the bushy glass is as good or better. The razor wins on eyebox and illumination for sure but the bushy is noticeably lighter and smaller. Imo the smrs really shines with a 12 o'clock dot. I'd have to say the bushy does the best clip on image of lpvo I've tried as well. |

As far as Chicom/Budget stuff: The new Vortex Crossfire HD line kinda impressed me. Makes the crossfire 2 look like garbage in comparison. Probably one of the better Scout Scopes out there in 2026, and their 1-4 scope isn't bad at all. The Hawke 1-4x20 LVPO with Fiber Red Dot is a great replacement for the discontinued VX-Freedom 1.5-4X20 Illum. FireDot MOA-Ring. If you are looking for something light/low profile. Great pick for a lever gun/PCC. Eye Relief/Eyebox is super forgiving. Glass looks great too. I just tossed one on a PC Carbine. It is definitely red dot bright. I also picked up a couple no name LVPOs off of Amazon for some budget rifles, and was impressed. Great Eye Relief/Forgiving Eye Box/Great Glass and Daylight Bright for $80? What the shit lol. Not bad for a M&P 15-22 or something. No issues on a 5.56 rifle, but I wouldn't trust it for anything bigger. The brand was Aimsharp. It's only a 1-4 but I honestly like these scopes better than my two PA ACSS Nova 1-6. Adjustments are pretty tactile as well. Oddly enough they are just as bright. Simple hunting reticle without BDC though. The RT6 is still great though imo. I'd rather buy non China if I can help it. |

Their Helos 2-12 and 4-20 compare closer to 600-700 scopes, their ETRs are closer to the 1000-1200 price range quality wise, and I like my Cronus as much or more than a Gen 2 razor |

I like their 2.5-15 a lot (and they just came out with a Jap version of that), just wish it had locking turrets and a little bit brighter illumination. |
| For those in the market the RT-6 is currently $199 on Amazon. |

ETA: The old Burris XTR 1-4X has good glass as well, just not a big fan of Ballistic reticles. For $200 used, it works well for the purpose. |

The Leupold Mk3HD. People look past them because of the 1.25-1.5X. The VXR is oddly still highly regarded, but the Mk3 is basically a VXR with better glass, reticle, and a throw lever. If you’re looking across your apartment, yeah 1.5X sucks. In real shooting it’s barely noticeable, especially when the Mk3 has the biggest exit pupil of any LPVO. (Almost the same as a T2.) With the thin ocular bezel, it’s a very solid optic. Only downside is the shitty turrets but get the BDC variant anyway. |

Still are, but especially at their prices back then. |

The credo has a better reticle and is plenty bright but way lighter and more affordable than a razor with the same quality glass. I'm on my second Credo HX 1-6 with the hunter hold reticle(sold the first one to try something different and it was the 7.62 version instead of the 5.56) and they are nice. glass is pretty good even at 6x, the 1x is not a true 1x IMO but so close that during normal shooting you won't notice the slight magnification and the illumination is nuclear bright. My only complaint is the holdover marks on the reticle are too big and cover up a bunch of the target past past 250-300yds. I guess you really can't fault the optic because it is listed as a hunter reticle which it is more than adequate for, but I would rather they have used a thinner post with dots for the hold over. |

Relevant thread.. I don't need anything expensive, because it'll sit in the safe far too much. Looking at the PA SP nova, vortex Venom, and the regular PA Nova. Going to toss it on a suppressed 12.5 build. |

If it’s not too far off the regular Nova I’d probably just do that unless you’re on a really tight budget. |

I think with the bonus bucks being gone Ill just hold off or look for one on new GAFS. |

I'm prob gonna get shit for this because no one trusts anything under $1000 on this website but the two best budget LPVO I've had recently are the Vortex Venom 1-6 and Vector Tauron FFP 1-6. I ended up selling the Venom and kept the Vector. I also had a Vector Continental 1-6 on C_Does youtuber recommendation (yes I also started the vector review thread) but I sold it and kept the Tauron for my budget trash can 14.5 build and it's surprised the hell out of me. I took it out to 500yds recently and the glass quality was phenomenal. Has its downsides but for $150 after coupons its very slept on and absolutely not an airsoft/amazon special. |
|
Vector Continental. The glass quality on 1x for a scope at its price range is crazy. It honestly matches up with scopes that cost much more on 1x. Oh and the turrets are the locking ones that pop up and down, and they work great. And daylight bright illumination. Worst part about it is the eyebox is kind of narrow. And the fixed parallax is focused for closer distances. The 6x isn't as good as the 1x but still pretty dang impressive for what it is. They claim german glass and manufactured in china. You can score these scopes for like 250 bucks. The illumination looks suspiciously similiar to the PA Nova. Maybe made in the same factory. Who knows. Attached File Attached File I have one on my 22. |

| I had the EOTech 1-10x red dot bright SR5 reticle and the view had too much distortion and the eyebox was the tightest I have seen in a long time. Mine had a defect in the lit-reticle and was returned but I am going with the Nightforce NX6 2-12x FFP. I like the turret setup, glass and size. |

EDITED: I also picked up a Vortex Venom 1-6 over a month ago. I'll put the two 1-6 scopes on my 13.7" builds. I'm still going to stick a couple of LPVO scopes on my two completed 18" bullet hose, FRT, builds. But I decided to build two more, higher accuracy 18" guns. I have moved mentally toward getting two higher power scopes for my 3rd and 4th 18" builds. I decided to go with Criterion barrels and want suitable, fitting, scopes for them. Oh, I also stuck an Aimpoint Pro in a LaRue mount on a 12.5" FRT bullet hose. |

| I have the C-More C3 and a Vortex PST in 1-6x. These are for 3 gun and I like the simple reticle and lighted dot. I like the glass on both of these. My vision struggles at 600yds. I really would like a 1-10x like the Vortex Razor but for the few long range matches I do the $2500 is a bit too much. |

So hopefully I can still get through to a new person and test one out. |
