If your friends are okay with bottom-of-the-barrel then go for it. I would rather have a Palmetto or Smith and Wesson M&P.

My problem is I want a pistol in 5.45 x 39mm and barrels are hard to come from. |

My M1S bolt lasted longer than some Colt bolts....
Ain't like they have their own factory, parts all come from a few suppliers. |

I’ve never, in over a decade, had an issue with my Model1 upper.
I’ve also, unlike A LOT of people, never had my CC info breached after purchasing there..... |

I didn't think they made their own barrels.
A friend is a dealer, I'll speak with him again and see if he can assemble the upper for me. If so, I'll just get the barrel and other parts from them, get him to assemble it. |

The 5.45 barrels are ER shaw and listed as being chrome lined. I'd risk an upper from them, but any other components should be from more reputable outfits.
Get good components and it "should" be OK, but read the warranty. Good luck on finding a 5.45 bolt anywhere. You might give VTS a call, he was selling Adams Arms 5.45 piston uppers with 11.5 inch barrels that are nitrided, I have one and it's solid. |

I purchased a 7.5" barrel and a few small parts from them. Waited over 30 days, but what showed up was as expected. No complaints

I bought a few complete uppers from them back before there were all the options we have today and no issues with them at all. The 20" HBAR I got is a tack driver.

They have quietly supplied parts and such for major manufacturers and sponsors for quite a few years. They aren't tier 1 but for most they will be fine.

Would recommend finding someone else to buy from. I bought a 10.5" upper with Magpul MOE handguard. It failed to cycle every time i fired it. 3 mags, Also when i changed the handguard the barrel indexing post snapped off. So i sent it back and got a refund. I cant speak to how they used to be but during the pandemic. i received sub par product but good service and fast shipping. actually great service. Yes only a few places actually make parts but place like MOdel1 and their sister company in texas typically buy the blemishes or the part that places like BCM and other Tier 1 companies pass on because the dont meet their spec standards

Wouldnt recomend them. I purchased an upper forr 155.00 after purchase they sent me an email that the upper price had changed to 215.00 and if I'd like it to let them know if I was o.k. with the price change. Same upper is still listed at 155.00 on there site.

I have a Model 1 20" upper, A2 style. Not Mil-spec by any means, but it shoots fine.

I bought a A2 Model1 upper probably 30 years ago at a local GS. I had to adjust the sight to one side to get it zeroed. Only shot it a couple times.
A few years ago, tore it down and trued the face of the receiver and found it was high on one side. Model1 is not top tier, but may be good enough...depends on what the price is. Just prepare yourself to fix or over look an issue. |

Model 1 has shipped the upper.....eager to see how lucky or unlucky I am.

GOT IT.
It looks pretty good. Has a "lock-key"-like marking on upper, heavy barrel, chromed BCG and bolt head. Now to order a brace and put it together.  |
