My DD MK18. It’s gone through several iterations but here is the latest. It’s a lower I purchased originally with a RIS II but switched to a RIS III for now that I put with a DD lower I already had. Just yesterday I painted the upper, lower and tube with Rapco 30118 field drab. " /> " />

No offense but the thread title was MK18/CQBR and I’m new here plus there are rifles on this page alone less correct than mine. SOPMOD stock, BG16 battle grip, Tangodown stubby RC2, LBT sling and CQD end plate and front sling attachment are all clone correct and I’m a retired Marine that was actually issued these things but I apologize. |

| No a RISII. It’s currently off the rifle but that’s what it came with. To my knowledge we never issued Mloc rails. At least not that I remember. Trying to decide whether I want to paint the quad rail. Our first rifles were Colt Mod 0 uppers on M4A1 lowers. Early rifles were not pleasant to shoot either. Since I was a 5821 criminal investigator/NCIS we were issued the early Navy rifles on ship duty. |
 Final form before paint, with the parts I got from AZ_SBR all installed. Base is definitely going to be Aervoe Sand, and probably Aervoe Earth Brown for the mesh overlay color. The lower is Aervoe Sand and Rustoleum Earth Brown, so I'm kinda debating between the two. I prefer the Rustoleum EB, but it doesn't interact all that great with Aervoe. For some reason, when you coat Rusto EB over Aervoe Sand, it bubbles and causes weird interactions if it isn't 100% dry. Honestly, the Rusto looks better, but I kind of want to do 100% Aervoe this time because the paint quality is massively better and holds up to abuse very well. We'll see.  Got the WMX200 action going on the CQBR Block IIs. Yes, before anyone asks, they're fuckin' clone Somogear lights. I'm going to put a few thousand through with them attached and generally abuse the shit out of them. We'll see how they hold up. I have to admit, their throw/candela is far better than my 1500 lumen Surefire 600DF. If they stand up to my usual abuse, I have no complaints. I wish I could bore them out for 18650 rechargeable batteries, but I'm afraid that'd burn the bulbs. |

 A bit cleaner pic of the WMX200 ;D. I used an Ergo pressure switch mount. It's actually kind of ridiculous how good the user interface is on the WMX200 for being such an old light. The lumens might've been shit (although plenty for anyone using NODs, and given the SOF end user needs), but the interface was brilliant. Double-click the pressure switch, and you have constant on; tap once and you have normal pressure on. No need for an extra tailcap button or specialized pressure switch. Shows how Surefire and Modlite are just gouging us for extra tailcaps and the like, when the problem was solved over a decade ago, lol. |

| Just got in a fresh bottle of Citristrip, gonna start stripping, I guess. I might try lining up the unpainted top with the painted bottom and see how it looks, but it's not likely I'm gonna be satisfied until I do a full fresh repaint. I doubt it will line up with the painted bottom, which kinda sucks, but it is what it is. |

They did not match up perfect but was good enough to satisfy my picky nature . If I had to do it over I'd probably just repaint the entire rifle.

But the lower not matching up to the upper, it's hard to ignore because it's basically one seamless surface flowing into another. It's sort of the difference between having a magazine that isn't perfectly matched to the lower, or optic to an upper, versus having a grip not match the pattern on the lower. One just stands out a lot more than the other, if that makes sense. |

I completed another build awhile back, most of it is built with period correct parts, but there's a few things still missing. Built it with the intention of making a MK18 Mod 0, but I guess its closer to a CQBR now; or a fusion of the two. Added a pic of my CQBR2 from page 1604 as a little extra.

Question regarding magnifiers. The consensus is that the G33 is the correct match for the su231a, but I've also seen reference to a "MAS-D" magnifier. As far as I can tell, it's basically an EOTech G33. So a few questions. Is the correct/contract magnifier a G33 or MAS-D? If it's the MAS-D, what is the difference between it and a standard G33? |

The G33 is correct, and then there is the tanodized G33, which is uber-correct. The latter is vastly more expensive and hard to find. I'm relatively certain the MAS-D refers to the G33 and EXPS3-0/SU231A as a package unit. |

Gentlemen, I want some opinions. I've gotta decide what to do with my old and new Surefire RC, and I'm not fully decided yet. Do I: 1. Pull my NT4 from the MARSOC CQBR Block II and use it as a dedicated can on my CQBR Block I, then put an SF muzzle device on the old NT4 Block II host and have 2 super twinsy RC CQBRs? 2. Keep sharing the NT4 between the Block I and MARSOC Block II. Build an 11.5" URGI for the new RC? 3. Keep everything where it is, and save my old RC in pristine, rebuilt form, until I shoot out the new one :\. 4. Fuck all that. Buy another taupe NT4 ;p. Still the same equation, but then I have 2 RCs and 2 NT4s, which seems right. Then I can have a dedicated NT4 for the Block I and one for the MARSOC Block II. I can then either build a URGI 11.5" for the new RC or... not sure. I'm not at all looking for an excuse to buy another NT4. This is all very pragmatic. |
