The contract stock was the gen 1 LMT until b5 got the contract, somewhere around ‘10/11 but I could be wrong in the year. Reality is it depends on what branch you’re cloning, as anything and everything has been seen, with usasoc appearing to have the most variety, and NSW most commonly has the lmt/b5

The FDE RC(1) is the contract suppressor, but most folks stick with the RC2 due to cost.

There were people who assured me back when I first got my RC, "Oh, don't worry about it, the 4P won't make a big difference." Wrong. I had only the thinnest bit of blast baffle left in the prong erosion channels at 15k. At that point, I finally decided, clone or not, I'm swapping to a brake. Meanwhile, another 10k with the SFMB and very little changed.

It's getting rebuilt by SF as we speak -- won't be making that mistake again, lol. If you're going to be shooting high-volume suppressed, the SFMB is absolutely worth it to maximize longevity.

Curious about the price SF charged? When I reached out to them in 22/23 they said they weren’t supporting legacy suppressors including the RC, as they were considered wear items.  If they are rebuilding then again I’d like to send my second one in before they stop working on them again

I'm still waiting to find out the final price. At one time, it was $321, but that was 5-6 years ago. The most recent quote I can find for a full re-core was $498 from a couple of years ago.

They won't give you a firm number until they 'inspect' it, and that basically doesn't happen until they get to your item in the RMA queue. I suspect it'll be in the $500-$600 range, but I should be finding out for sure within the next few weeks.

ETA: Did you ask specifically about the RC or just legacy SF cans in general? I gather they ran out of parts for the 212 a few years ago and no longer rebuild them. I made a point to get clear confirmation that they knew it was an original RC and that they could indeed service it. He checked the serial and said go ahead and send it in.

@Combat_Diver follow-up on this photo, I’ve picked some of the surplus no logo cqd mounts in the past, but they were always salty. In photos they appear to be zinc phosphate as opposed to the blued/black oxide coating the commercial and logo versions they have.

Do you know if the contracted no logo mounts were parked/phosphates or were these just refurbed at one point?

Most of these were with EOTech 552/554 models.  554 was issued to 10th Mountain and a few other units supposedly better for Afghanistan but I digress.  They got it to where the comp m2 (m68) was at.

Also 7STS had some of those and we deployed with them when we had EOTech because that is what I ran on my M4.

What is the story on the MK18/CQBR BCG upgrades mentioned in Jeff Gurwitch's video? He states they used an O-ring extractor, stronger ejector and McFarland one piece gas rings. Are the gas rings still used and are the other upgrades not standard on Colt and other BCGs?

Went to Tucson yesterday, and had a nearly brand-new Surefire RC follow me home :D.

Maybe the equivalent of 200rds or less of short-barreled use on it. The seller estimated more rounds, but if so, it was as gentle as a Millennial parent. Definitely not much, if any, rapid fire on a shorty.

Compared to the baffle on my old RC at 700rds, this thing looks barely touched. Didn't really need another since mine is being rebuilt, but it was too good a deal to pass up.

My original RC at 700:

"New" RC:

The fit is also ridiculously tight after being used to my old one; I haven't had a bearing surface that wasn't eroded to shit in a long time, heh.

Fresh, innocent RC. Unmarred and unblemished by the cruel vagaries of heartless CQBRs.

Gave it a proper welcome on Sunday. The Cerakote got a cooking it wasn't used to.

Still haven't heard anything from SF on my old RC, and I'm not entirely sure what my plan is for it now. I thought about just keeping it pristine and shooting this one, but I'm already thinking about a more permanent home for it, lol.

I mean, if I built another Block I...

The NT4 could be the dedicated can for that, and I could make my Block IIs true RC twinsies. At the same time, I like having a Block II with an NT4. It's a quandary.

Mercy sakes, we gotta get the CQBR activity up in here, gentlemen.

I'm putting together the last pieces of another CQBR Block I.

Already have a Colt factory 10.3", C-marked Cerro upper, and C BCG. I have a 2003 Vero Beach RAS, early 2000s Wilcox, LMT L8A, PRI GB, and KAC M4QD on the way. I almost scored a raised C AF Colt upper for it, but it didn't work out. I still might try to source a raised C to complete the early 2000s vintage, but I'm using a current production Colt 10.3", so I'm not too worried about it.

Lower will be the same PSA SBR'ed M4A1 Government Property from my old CQBR Block I. Accessories will be a proper Colt N1, CQD, and KAC QD. Adding an Arcfire V1, and I still have to get an S3G for it. I stole the old S3G out of the lower for my MP5K, lol.

I guess I'm going to go with an Aimpoint PRO for the optic and retro it with turrets, battery cap, and strap. Debated an M2, but I want a 2MOA dot, and the only other option is a Comp M3. An M3 is what I did on my old Block I, but those are pretty hard to find. So, I guess it's gonna be a PRO unless I decide to get crazy and accept an M2 with 4MOA.

Once it's all here, I suppose I'm gonna have to strip the lovely Aervoe paint job on my lower, then do it all from scratch with fresh Aervoe. Fun times.

@krdt IMC posted on Instagram about the potential availability of early-contract-style CQD mounts. Of most interest were the flat-backed receiver end plates; you may want to contact them to inquire about their availability.  Also, have you looked into the TNVC ECOS-N?

I've seen the ECOS-N, but I've already got a period Wilcox, so I just need the optic at this point. I've got a line on a couple of Aimpoint PROs with original turrets/battery cap/straps. Probably should just grab an M2, but I don't like shooting with 4MOA dots. I've got astigmatism, and the bigger the dot, the more annoying it gets. Tried to get an M3 from a guy that had a package deal w/ a Wilcox and L8A, but he was asking new retail prices for used stuff, so that didn't work out.

I'll check into those early CQDs, though. Good to know.

Thus, the CQBR Block I Part Deux begins -- I dub it CQBR Block Deux. I put the URG together tonight, but still waiting on the PRO and retrofit parts that are on the way. Managed to find a front M2/M3 old-style lens cover, but I still need the rear. Also waiting on the PRI Gasbuster (not gonna be shooting suppressed without a GB). I tossed a CAGE code Colt charging handle in as a placeholder for the fancy parts picture.

If anyone has old M2/M3-style lens covers sitting around that they don't need, let me know. Or, for that matter, a Comp M3, I'd be interested.

I'm still debating on a light. If I can find a 951 Fat Body for a reasonable price, I'm tempted to go that route and update it with a drop-in. Otherwise, it's getting the PR treatment with an M300 like my old Block I. I've got an M300 500 lumen in hand, so that might end up being the way, heh.
