Anyone have a 5” barrel in 5.56? What buffer weight are you using?

Strike Industries has a 5.25” buffer tube, with a 1.8oz buffer.

KAK has a 5.25” buffer tube, and offers a carbine weight buffer of 2.5oz or a “heavy” buffer that’s 3.3oz.

I know 5” of barrel in 5.56 is just plain silly, which is why I want to build one. My question is what buffer weight to get it to run reliably, or is it just trial and error at that point?

The ammo used would most likely be typical plinking ammo - steel cased or brass cased,55gr fmj.

How much rifling in a 5” barrel like that? Does the chamber eat up half of that length?

the 4.75 barrels shoot fine, they make one for 556 in a 1:5 twist that will spin up 77SMK bullets also

I've ran 4oz to 1.5oz buffers in 5 Inch barreled ar15s the only difference is the rate of fire, heavier ran slower but thy all work.
