Rebarreled a Blk II with a Colt 14.5" SOCOM FSB barrel.  Installed new gas rings and a Surefire FH556RC-1/2-28.  Threw on a detachable carrying handle, headed to the range for a function check and it fired flawlessly in semi and auto.  Didn't have a suppressor to check.

Question for those that are in the know. Would a M16A1 lower be correct for an early M4 SOPMOD? Not sure of the fielding dates for those on the "dark side", maybe they had M4A1s earlier or they had an authorized conversion to their M4s. I have an engraved M16A1 lower sitting around doing nothing productive.

While anything is possible, the M4A1 Carbine came out few months before the SOPMOD was introduced and issued concurrently.

^ rifle is gorgeous no doubt. Pictures suck balls (too little light, bro - even if you have weak lights, put two to three spotlights pointing to the rifle and try again; it's not a problem of camera, it's a problem of light exclusively)

Here's a real grip (black) and a fake (tan). Your grip seems to have the full threading that my real one has.

Could be a very early one/prototype. That's my guess.

Wonder if Kevin B would know

A friend of mine ended up with this VFG, supposedly early KAC made from Delrin.

I've not seen one with a round base, and it is not marked as Knights. Knockoff? Or is there info that I don't know on these? Every one that I own or have owned has the flat sides of the base where it attatches to the RAS bottom rail.

His came used, with free sand/dirt and velcro tab for tape switch.

This one looks like everything has been machine turned on a lathe. Possible early model or prototype?

Aren't the new grips molded? Looking at the other pics they seem to have the round sprue or ejector marks in them.
