View Quote I didn’t realize they had released their A4 lower already. Seems like it was kind of under the radar compared to their M4A1 and M16A2 lowers. I could see their black anodizing contrasting a little with surplus parts, but then so do real FN lowers! |

@Knightzone
Did you have any issues with the bolt catch pocket? I had to get in there with a small bastard file and clean up the inside the of the slot that the bolt catch sits into in order to get it to operate smoothly. Measured it as being about .008 undersized compared to other lowers I have. The trigger guard roll pin hole was also extremely tight. I had to open that slightly as well. Anyway, with the FN upper from OOW, and the other FN parts from Shark, I still definitely feel like I have a more authentic "clone" then even the military collectors edition, for quite a bit less money. The tolerances of the PSA lower are disappointing. Maybe they need to change out some tooling in the tool cage! Attached File |

I took a mallet to the trigger pin to get it to seat. I'm thinking there is an issue with mine in the magazine catch dims-It takes force to seat a mag and I almost have to depress the mag button to load a mag. I will play with that a bit more, its probably my LPK or an error in my installation, but overall the clearances are TIGHT on this lower, tighter than any PSA or other lower I have had. ETA: Fine looking rifle there. IM me if you need a KAC VFG. |

Does anyone know precisely which Larue ACOG mount was used with the TA31-RCOA4? I understand its not quite the same as the one sold currently.
ETA: And can anyone advise on which forward sling adapter to buy? Not the buttstock adapters, the velcro one that wraps around the handguard behind the FSB. |

Archived thread on deciphering carry handle height to determine whether it is clone worthy. After all these years I've learned my forge code meant nothing regarding this matter. Calipers show 0.793" for mine, meaning it's commercial.

A4 build on a PSA M16A4 lower. The 3-point sling is one of my actual issued slings from OIF-3 (2005). Fun fact: The Specter 3-point sling was too bulky, so they were removed for foot patrols and re-installed once we were back inside the wire. Instead, my fellow Marines and I fashioned one-point slings out of straps from old sustainment pouches. We fastened the female end to the webbing at the shoulder of our flak jackets and the male end was fastened onto the sling loop of the buttstock. The two ends clicked together to form a one-point sling that could be quickly disconnected.
I also have my issued incandescent Surefire lights still, and I will put one on the rifle once I find a new tape switch. Attached File Attached File |

You can see the makeshift single-point sling set-up on the rifle on the right. Also notice the A2 handguards on the same rifle. This was one of the transitional A4s (my photo - spring of 2005). I wish I had a picture of the markings on the receiver, because I remember somebody's rifle in this configuration actually being stamped with goofy markings like M16A3 with an old "A2" marking "X"-ed out. My company had a mixture of M16A2, M16A4, M4 carbines, and a couple of these transitional A4 rifles.
Attached File A good close-up of 2 different ACOGs fielded during the same 2005 deployment. The further model has back-up sights but no fiber-optics, while the closer one has fiber-optics but no back-up sights. Attached File Pic from same 2005 deployment: M16A4 with PEQ-2, Surefire light, ACOG, buttstock mag pouch. Beretta M9. AN/PVS-7 night vision goggles. Later on in the deployment we switched to the AN/PVS-14 after procuring a batch of them. Attached File |

Makes me want to clone it. I came in a year after and had an A4 almost the whole time. Only time I had an M4 was on the MEU as helo Co. and MK12 next deployment. I’m 5’ 7” and the A4 was doable with the interceptor and later the plate carrier but those damn MTVs made those things feel like shouldering 17th century cannons with midget arms. |

Sight height on M16A4. Iron sights are at 1.50" or 1.57"?
I'm seeing most mounts being offered in 1.57, 1.93, and then stuff over 2". Im wanting to go the M68(M4 and/or s) route. What height mounts were used, cowitness, lower 1/3, etc.? What height does one have if mounting to the fixed or removeable carry handle? Since I can't find this info anywhere in this thread the same info related to various ACOG's would also be helpful. |

Figured it was just the lower having tight tolerances but I had another set of pins that for so I went with those. |
