This was the rifle I was issued at my first duty station in 1988. When I drew this rifle it still had a partial DAS stamp, but it wore off after a few cleanings. It's the one on the right. Yes those are my feet.

Here is my FN in Iraq circa 2006. I know my finger is on the trigger, I did it on purpose.

No, we were deployed to the PI in October 1990 to bolster the forces there during DS/DS. We left between April and early May 1991. We were back in Okinawa when Pinatubo popped. They were thinking of sending us back there to help out, but a large percentage of us were beyond our ETS dates due to stop loss, including me, so they started filtering us back stateside for discharge.

Ok.  Thats how we ended up on the rock.   I think it was HMH463 that had been there almost a year, and though we were on our way to the storm went on a west "spare pac" instead.
Thus winding up in the PI.  Was wondering as we brought down a company of grunts with us for helping with security, even saw a guy I went to boot camp that was with that company.   I was with HMH772.

Turned in my old XM16E1 (66-67' produced) for a NIB M16A2 in 87' while at Ft Campbell KY with 1/5th SFGA.  One week later did a night combat equipment jump (exposed weapon) and did a PLF on to the rifle.  Broke the new handguards and then did a 12 mile road march to the range that night.  First time firing and zeroing that rifle was without handguards.  Took a few months till the armorer was about to get a new set.  Year later I was in 1/10th at Bad Tolz, West Germany.  They had new M16A2s also.

Here is my M16A2/M203 in Italy 90' while with 1/10th.
