While a surplus Colt barrel would be preferred I think that ship has sailed. I don’t see too many in stock other than at Brownells and retro rifles. I’d want 1:12 to stay as close to original as possible. You guys have any other leads?

Green Mountain makes 1-12 and 1-14 twist M16A1 barrels, but you'll have to install your own front sight assembly (drill and drive taper pins):
