Nice looking rifle. I like that stock. I believe it's the ACS-L. L for light. They eliminated the battery compartments for ergonomics and weight. I'm all for less weight and I like how it locks up tight on the buffer tube with the second lever. My ACS-L is OD Green. I've got it on my "go to, all purpose" Dissipator.

I've had a stripped PSA lower for a couple years and I don't figure I'll ever build it. I stopped by my LGS and saw this Armalite and made a kind of an impulse purchase. Got it home and ordered a Noveske/SWS rail, Noveske/BCM charging handle, low pro Armalite gas block, B5 stock, Atlas bipod/Larue mount, Trijicon TR20/Larue mount and Magpul MIAD grip.
I already had a Surefire Warcomp off my 300 blk and a set of MBUS Pro sights. I want a set of offset KAC sights for it and I think I can dig it.

Here's mine. Pardon the bench. This rifle probably deserves a better photo session attempt from me. Anyway, as it sits now, the build list:
LOWER 2A Xanthos-Lite Large Frame Lower Receiver 2A LR-308 Ti Takedown Pins POF 7 position 308 Receiver Extension, A2 rifle-length spring and 3 oz buffer (for now- tweaking after deer season to remove some weights) Mag Pul CTR (swapping to MFT Minimalist) SSA-E KNS Hammer/ Trigger Pins Hogue Grip V7 Ti parts- more than I want to think about ($$$$) UPPER 2A Xanthos-Lite Large Frame Upper Receiver 16" X-Caliber fluted barrel (soon to be KAK 12.5” Medium Contour carbine length 416R barrel- SBR stamp maybe 2/2017) Superlative Arms Adjustable GB (the KAK barrel will use a Syrac AGB) PRI Gas Buster V7 Titanium BCG (again, $$$$) 15" 2A Xanthos handguard (I.D. of 1.70"- the YHM Phantom has an OD of 1.60"- hope everything is REAL straight) Currently sporting a 12 ounce Thunberbeast Ultra 7 that is rated for a 16" 308 only, so about a month after the SBR stamp comes in, a stamp for a 15 ounce YHM Phantom Ti DT should hit the mailbox. Haven't weighed it all yet, but can't tell any difference between it and a 16" 6.8 that was not built light weight, hand in hand. With the 12oz TBAC and no optics, it should be well under 7lbs. After both stamps come in, I might designate this my night time hog gun and swap the thermal to it.

I just sent off my ArmaLite AR10 A4 standard rifle to ADCO to have the barrel recontoured to shave weight off. {rifle pictured above}. I really like the rifle BUT I wanted something practical for my field use and the 12 pounds was quite too much over time. I hike, ski and snowshoe a LOT and the weight of that thing gets old. What the ArmaLite AR10 WAS in its inception is what I want now; 20" bbl rifle, LIGHT. Most of the rifles you will see here are range guns or not carried very much at all or comparatively not very much {what some guys consider a hike with a rifle isn't much of a hike}. Confession: After 5 hours breaking trail on skis in the mountains I don't want a 12 pound rifle anymore. Mine will likely get a new scope as well, something smaller than the 3-9 I have now. |

Started out as a DEF10. Swapped the barrel for a 20" Armalite, TAC15 handguard chopped for clearance for Armalite AR10 F marked style front sight, Magpul ACS, BCM grip, lpk and trigger with Armalite bolt and mag catch, BCM charging handle and BCM mod1 comp. BCM stubby foregrip. Proctor sling. Magpul SR25/A5 buffer tube. Really like this setup. I have some Magpul pro rear sight, and am thinking if am acog or 1-6x scope. |
