I've got three of the surefire X300Us (the 600 lumen models) and I've been considering upgrading to either the 1000 lumen or the Turbo. Anyone else do this? Was it worth the upgrade?

As always,  depends on use.

In house,  probably not.

I did a few run n gun events, they had a cave section.  400 lumens vanished.... so next time I went up to 600 and a 1000 lumen handheld.   That *mostly* got me to 20 yards.

Kind of extreme example, but I don't leave that light on when it's in the bed safe.

The X300 Turbo would probably be a worthwhile upgrade for your go to gun. Keep the original 300Us on the lesser used guns.

I’d probably go turbo vs 1k lumens just to get additional throw.  My 600 seems to have more throw than my 1000lu one.

The turbo is by far the best version of this light and a worthwhile upgrade.

100% turbo convert here.

X300 500L = 13,000 candela Page 8 of 2012 Surefire Catalog
X300 1000L = 11,000 candela  Page 22 of 2020 Surefire Catalog

They used to make a X300U 600L with like 16k candela.

Thanks @Caeser2001 pretty sure I’ve got the higher candela one due to the noticeable brighter hot spot.

I prefer the 1K on my pistols and I use a Turbo on my work rifle

The 600 on a pistol is plenty in my opinion especially for home protection
